    ES fill price anomaly question

If you are waiting to get filled at 1050.00 limit on a buy, that means price is currently trading ABOVE that level, right? Of course if price never gets DOWN to 1050.25 you will not get filled at 1050.00. This is obvious, so I guess your question is still a bit unclear (at least to me :) ).

Thank you sir. Definitely not the norm, is right.

    ES fill price anomaly question

It does happen rarely, on occasion. :)

    ES fill price anomaly question

In general, that's correct ... that's your slippage, where it needs to trade through your limit by 1 tick for you to get filled. Your "being down 1 tick to start" is the price you see right after you get filled. If your stop is 1 tick, yes you will almost certainly get stopped out. Don't...

    ES fill price anomaly question

I think you mean 1049.75, and it's called "slippage". That's because there is unsufficient supply at the ask to fill all the orders of buyers at 1050.00 limit. Something like that.

Quotetracker now $14 per month for InteractiveBrokers

Just fund an Ameritrade account ... put it in a bond ETF or good dividend-paying blue chip if you're worried about your $2k sitting idle. QT is worth this minimal effort IMO.

To Double Down or Double Up?

An S&P pit trader friend of mine tells me averaging down is common practice on the floor. Obviously once in awhile they get annihilated ... it's all about mitigating the damage on those days to keep most of their previous gains.

    CL is wild :-(

To the OP, whatever it is you trade you need to study charts of that instrument - LOTS of them - before you trade it live. Had you done that, you would've seen a similar pop/drop every Wednesday at the same exact time in CL. A little homework goes a long way. :)

Why do people in USA like taxes!!!!

"People" don't like taxes, only politicians do. :D It's what keeps them fed. Plain and simple - if government shrinks they're out of a job.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Probably worth it to reach out to the brokers just to be able to say we've done all we can, whether or not they worry about cnbc.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Exactly, but doubtful they would go to the trouble of contacting cnbc over it ... until it was too late.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

What's her email address? .. couldn't find it on the site. She needs to be informed of the fact that a trans. tax hurts cnbc sponsors, who indirectly pay her salary. I don't understand the network's letting her continue to promote this. Maybe we need to be emailing the boss instead.

I've since learned the answer to the above question is yes, for anyone in a similar situation.

Probably a dumb question, but does anyone know if the free registration by virtue of having an Ameritrade account will allow you to access data feed from OTHER brokers as well, i.e. IB? I have an Amtd account and an IB account, but I only need QT for futures charting. Thanks.

    Futures Scalping

Thanks to piezoe, Swan Noir, and nitro for quantifying "scalping" in specific terms. Still would like to hear from John 47 and anyone else on their definition.

    Futures Scalping

    6 ticks, 7 ticks ... BELOW 2 points basically. :)

What are the advantages of day-trading stocks over futrues?

You could try a leveraged ETF vs the futures.

    Futures Scalping

I'll say it again. We need to clearly define "scalping" or none of this discussion has much meaning. To me scalping is a target of less than 2 points (ES).
