Apparently p/ IB. the market makers at the CBOT have discretion whether or not they want to post bids and asks. I never knew a market maker had a choice, I always believed it was their job to make a two sided market.

I guess you get what you pay for. You save commissions for a few years and then it gets blown up in a couple of days by bad technology.

I have been trading futures options and IB very rarely has quotes on anything and they don't post them during the day, which is totally unnaceptable. Anyone have any idea why? Can anyone reccomend a better futures options broker?

Are your friends and family qualified investors? They will have to be or you will have to lie about where you got the money. You cannot manage a hedge fund and take money unless they are qualified investors.

As far as taking the loss, there is definately something in it for him, it's certainly wasn't out of kindness. Their focus needs to be on the institutional business if they want to grow.
