Mo, You're right, I'm still learning the rope with these diagonals and I think I prefer double diagonals for your reason above. I currently only have an AUG/SEP 1240/1210 PUT Diagonal and the delta neutral properties have gone out the window as SPX has moved up and we're at expiry. My...

Murray, don't want to be a party pooper but I think your return in your post is only 5.6%. Call gain 2375 Put loss 975 Profit as per your posting 1400 Margin 25000 Return 1400/25000 = 5.6% Still a great return. If i could get that every month, i would put my house on it :)

Hi Sailing, Apologies as I have a question instead of a contributing thought. My question is how you got such good prices to start with. Your PUT DIAGONAL cost you 2.20 and your CALL DIAGONAL cost you 0.30. How'd you do it ? I can't for the life of me get these prices. I got a...

burrben, Your price looks about right. The mid price i was quoted was around 3.10. VIX was around 13.65. So i probably would have been filled around 3.30. Might get some if vix stays low today.

Hurting my 1240/1210 diagonal as well entered when ES was 1279.5. Entered for a debit of 3.30 ES now is 1282.25 and my mid is 3.15. Not a big loss but will probably get less than mid if i do decide to sell.

You're up early today Coach :D I put in my diagonals at low IVs as well but cant seem to get the fill you got. For example, I looked last night and VIX was around 14.10 and the mid for the SEP/OCT 1225/1200 diagonal was around 3.00 Would appreciate it if you would post your trade next...

But I'm only getting filled at the mid or 10 or 20 cents worse. Nowadays I just put my order dead on the mid and let it get filled when SPX moves against me. So in reality, im probably getting filled a dime or two worse than mid. Rarely, or probably never do i get filled a dime or two better...

Coach and Murray, You seem to get your diagonals for around 2.25 from your trades that i can see. But I seem to pay around 3.00 to 3.3 eg currently the SEP1225/OCT1200 diagonal. I get a mid price of 3.10. Am i paying too much or Do you guys get the same price? I just can't seem the...

Yes thanks for the demo Murray. Great learning experience. Interesting to see how with SPX moving up 15 pts (not really what you want), you're still making 15% on margin. I could be wrong but i think theta is making you all that money without any real significant movement in the SPX...

Tried to graphically analyse the diagonals on IB Portfolio Analytics but don't know how to use it properly. So I'll just have to picture it in my head as I normally do. The 1275/1260 diagonal increases the range in which the set 3 of diagonals can profit. If SPX expires around 1275...

Not a good time, as once again, vix is only around 15. I think more experienced people here were advocationg reverse calenders when vix is much higher eg between 20 - 24 back around in mid june. That way when vix drops, you make good money from your short back month as it has a higher vega than...

Murray, Won't your ATM Put diagonal be a little risky? So if the SHORT of your diagonal is initiated ATM and SPX moves down, won't your position be losing on paper. I understand from your previous positions, if SPX moves down towards your OTM short diagonals, your position is not losing on...
