Don't miss the chance on Trading (shorting) RIMM

Nice job for those who caught it short. I just wanted to point out that a lot of the move lower in RIMM happened intraday so one could have just day traded the shorts repeatedly without having to take on overnight risk or any kind of big draw-down.

    Candlestick Recognition Software

No they aren't. They largely depend on what kind of algorithms are active.

    Do you think it's legal?

Anything more than 0.0045 per share is probably too much unless you're getting an all-in rate which includes ECN fees.

So they're renaming the order types.

I think the proposed rule is great to help new people understand how it actually works.

    Herbalife (HLF) Exposed!

Well said. Everyone will be better off the more level the playing field is so the public doesn't just hear excessive cheerleading of every company. Short sellers are the counter-balance to management and lots of analysts.

What options do I have for trading DMA brokers?

SpeedTrader and ChoiceTrade offer DAS Trader Pro platforms. SpeedTrader, Cobra Trade, and eOption offer Sterling Trader Pro. Besides these, TradeStation is an alternative to Lightspeed and IB.

who ruined the US markets ?

Very interesting. As a relatively new trader (early 2008), some of these conditions are relatively new to me. I was wondering how you would rate the current conditions on a scale of 1 to 10? How does that compare to 2004-2006? And 1991-1995? Were those times significantly worse? Thanks.

What options do I have for trading DMA brokers?

Interesting question. I'm going to a Garsworld Trading Academy webinar tomorrow night which is all about different brokers so I'll post what they say. They should be providing a list of brokers that offer DAS Trader Pro and Sterling without going prop. Also they should be giving us direct-access...

    Daytrading & Drawdown Management

If the system was working well for a long time before with a previous max drawdown of -3R then maybe consider some kind of kill switch at -4R or something tight like that. Then you could turn the system back on whenever it started making a certain amount of money again (e.g., +5R maybe)...

what is the legal way to do it?

You should double check to make sure your state still has a 15 account exception to registration. Rules have changed the last few years.

what is the legal way to do it?

Keep in mind that different states have different regulations so you need to look into the laws of the state(s) that applies to you.

    Trading Software

If you have TD Ameritrade, I recommend you take a look at their QuoteTracker software which has a much cleaner interface than Thinkorswim. In terms of stock screening software, I recommend you check out one called StockVision which lets you run highly customized scans for stock movement and...

Starting a fund / raising capital

For people trading smaller amounts of other people's money usually the laws of the state(s) involved will govern what you can and cannot do. Each state has its own securities laws and regulations in addition to the federal stuff.

WTS Proprietary Trading Group LLC, Miami FL

What you described sounds like a pretty normal/decent deal for those types of prop firms. Just based on the statistics, though, you need to be able to fully lose all of the money you allocate to trading (since that's a pretty common outcome for new traders) so if you're not yet at that point...

    Quotetracker and Ninjatrader

For the Stochastics I think you don't have the periods set consistently since the software labels them in a different sequence. For 14,1,3 in Quotetracker it should probably say 3,14,1 in NinjaTrader. For the MACD you might need to change the way it is calculated in QuoteTracker to get it...

    2012: The Battle for Survival

He had great success from 2005-2009 which was not just a fluke so he can be successful again if he adapts to what's changed since then. I hope it all works out and in the long run 2010-2012 will just be a blip on the radar. With over $100,000 in his account he still has plenty of time to make a...

Why do you think the VIX is so extremely low??

I interpret it as a consequence of having 3 years of very strong bounces following any down legs we have. It's easy for the bulls to get complacent in these conditions. There's probably also the assumption if things get very bad again it will force the Fed to do more which will limit the...

    Stock Screeners

I really like one called StockVision - been using it a few years since you can really customize the parameters. I think they still have a free trial without even asking for a credit card. Good deal.
