five years later (the previous 5), still struggling!

Exactly, afternoons since the beginning of the year are made to get back what you took and more. I'll try to stop before 3pm eastern.

Agree 100%, at the end of day IB tells me I payed $150 or more in commission. I always end up putting between 20-50 trades!! My strategy usually gives me 2 to 4 signals a day! If I could limit my self to twice that I'll be profitable most days.

I agree 100% with you. All money I made I made it long term, but then I lose it when the market turns, I tend to lose focus. I had a long position at 94.25, for a long ride, then I sold it for 4 points profit! My analysis told me that 91.5 will be good support. I shorted last Friday at 1340.25...

five years later (the previous 5), still struggling!

There are two reasons, I won't go into specifics. First, when you start discussing specifics of your strategy, you'll have a lot of inputs and start adding this and that, which is very bad. Second, because there are newbies out there thinking that a strategy is the most important thing...

In sim it make wonders. Live and sim are two completely different worlds. I have always had systems that worked in sim, but executing them is a different story.

five years later (the previous 5), still struggling!

This is going to be my last attempt at this madness! I started a journal in 2006 without success (http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62958&perpage=6&pagenumber=1), I took a break of more than three years before coming back to the markets, but still not profitable. I lack...

    dazed and confused

What you saying makes a lot of sens. But, how about a hedge fund polling the market and when he sees weakness, he would want to short and tries to get the highest price? MomoNY.

    dazed and confused

I may be the only person on the planet to think that this is a signal for a correction. From my understanding it is a run for the stops. A lot of weaks put their stops above the high of the day. When you see a run for the stops on one side expect the market to go the other side in the next few...

    Wallace Euro Trades

I think it is building a short term top here. If 3573 breaks then look for at least three cents down. We may have a top on both euro and s&p, this is just from the way it acted today. Just my 2 cents. MomoNY.

Most Important Lesson Of The Year.

Completely agree with you. It seems the terrible twos last only 10-12 years, before the terrible 15s start! where you can look for friendship, and may be teach him to trade. Until then just be a good parent. Momo.

Are stops a complete joke ?

always wait for two bars break (preceding the decline or current) before buying. You should have bought oct 28 or dec 2. my 2 cents. Momo.

10% unemployment but H1B visas accelerating

I don't agree, CS is not dead it has just become like any other "elite" discipline, like Architecture, Medicine, etc... All those disciplines have cycles: good ones and bad ones, and we are at the beginning of a good cycle for CS or the end of a bad cycle. Look at media arts, security and data...

10% unemployment but H1B visas accelerating

Put it this way: American smarties choose finance, law etc... (MBAs) to make big bucks and research is done by those H1Bs. You won't believe the ratio of H1Bs in PhD students and post-doctorals in US. You should be thankful to those guys who make America the land of innovation and new ideas...

"What type of trader are you ?"

You are an Artistic Trader! Being an Artistic Trader suggests that you enjoy what's going on around you and being in the "now." You like to have your own space and work within your own time frame. In this sense you enjoy the independence of trading, although not the fixed hours of the...

Rogue trader, Revelations from LeMonde page 1

Did anyone made a comment on the 50 bill that you took (position) the fist 15 days on January? I had the sentiment that the market was going to rebound. Why such huge bet, disproportionate compared to all your precedent bets? It was a way of cost averaging down, and moreover I know that...

OUFFFFF, that was laborious! sorry for any mistakes, the French used was far from academia, it is hard to translate 100%, mainly because of the tense. sometimes present is used to speak about something in the past. Here is the last part of the interrogations in two posts. (...) Each trader...
