Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal II

Spyder, which of those are "tenured"? Some would have been filtered out by stocktables due to price or rank by now.

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal II

(Hey, you just hit 2000 posts spyder) I just finished a convenience program that takes the stocktables output file as input and gets the earnings, float and avg volume from yahoo. It works really well for cutting the drudgery of culling but it's only as good as the data! I did a spot...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal II

OK that makes sense, thanks. In FMCN's case, the float value of 0 is an anomaly. A cross-check on msn showed a useful float value. I'll have to double check against MSN on the weird looking float values.

I noticed that BOOM would no longer make it into the final universe list, though fundamentally it looks OK. It doesn't pass the "Hershey Equities Rank SCAN v. 1.0.0" scan. Also, I noticed that FMCN is reported to have a float of 0 (zero) according to yahoo along with a handful of others from...

LOL, yes it helps and now I feel silly. I'll read the first journal thoroughly now instead of skimming it.

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal II

Here's a n00b question for y'all. As I do daily scans and add stocks to the final universe list, the list will obviously grow over time. But what knocks stocks out of the final universe list? I assume that if certain members of the final universe no longer meet the fundamental criteria from...

    Understanding Depth

I've noticed *exactly* the same phenomenon on YM and others. When an up move starts in earnest, the asks far exceed the bids. The reverse is true for down trends. I agree it's counter-intuitive and I can't explain it. Though I *am* glad someone else noticed this as well, meaning I'm not...

    Paper trading now at IB.

Everyone's getting spanked using market orders. I found this same wild slippage on YM market orders. I've reported it to IB. If you use limit orders (like you should be anyway) everything is fine.

    Non-ranting YM Traders

Well hey there guys. I originally created this thread 2 months ago really just to make a point about all the flaming going on in a related thread. But exchanging fresh ideas with some fresh characters is welcome. I'm close to starting live trading myself. I use QuoteTracker for charting...

Why is the usd/chf vs eur/usd inverse correlation?

I'll letcha in on a little secret. Have a look at the EURCHF chart on a long time frame. It's a wonderful opportunity for channel trading. Since they're so well correlated, they do tend to move together *but* their values realative to one another do see-saw back and forth.

    Stock certificates

IB (my broker) explicitly does *not* accept stock certificates! I may have to walk this cert into a brick and mortar broker house in the city. Damn.

    Stock certificates

I know that holding paper stock certificates is kind of passe now, but my wife has some from decades ago. We want to liquidate the shares but I don't have the slightest ideas what to do with the dang thing. How do you sell a stock when you hold the certificate? Will Interactive Brokers take...

    IB API Questions

LOL, I use VC++ with the socket API. My choice isn't based on an impartial analysis of which is the "best" language. It just happens to be the language that I use for work and so I'm most familiar with it. Besides, it's the best.

Are Past Losses Keeping You From Being A Winner?

I fall into the "big past loss" category and it's kept me sidelined for a whole year now. I'm on the verge of starting over now, with a plan and lots of practice but it's still scary and I'm constantly procrastinating when I re-start. I've met some guys with the opposite problem. They had a...

    YM Traders

Just an interesting observation. I don't use any fancy data feeds or premium software like Ensign, E-Signal etc. I just use the simple charting that comes with IB TWS. What I do periodically is go back 1 month (the max time) and draw horizontal lines at major, obvious swing points. Then I...
