    Holy Goldman Sachs

Not their prop desk guy, he goes through a different guy at that desk, and more often than not likes to use the pit more on some big orders. I'm gonna venture to say it was a futures broker, was hearing from my bro who is in contact with an old Goldman salesman that it was a European hedge fund.

    Holy Goldman Sachs

Yes, I can see exactly which guy at the desk is doing it. Same guy the whole day, so that means most likely same customer. Locals here could care less if the guy is arbing out of it, they will pretty much take the other side all day. I got caught trying to fade him, that happens when you run...

    Holy Goldman Sachs

Think that guy was finishing up before Greenspan today. Was 23 bid 6000, up until two minutes before, he pulls it, then local offers 6000 at 23.5 (all on screen), and then they pay 23.5 on 3500 one order. Great trade for that local (probably Hardy).

    Holy Goldman Sachs

TomCole, Following the broker/dealer/paper would have been much less painful yesterday for a lot of locals, but their job is simply to provide a market for big paper like that. If that was a hedge or whatever yesterday it doesn't matter, the guy bought 50,000 ten years and moved it half a...

    Holy Goldman Sachs

Essentially we use Alaron for floor clearance purposes since I am not yet a member of the CBOT. I do not really know anyone at Alaron but my boss does.

    Holy Goldman Sachs

Ok, should we start a thread kind of like that old "t-notes today" thread? Maybe call it "CBOT Bonds". Any suggestions welcomed.

    Holy Goldman Sachs

15,000 more bought, Goldman in the pit on 1,000. New highs again. Make it total of 50,000 all day across the whole range. Unbelievable.

    Holy Goldman Sachs

He is not physically in pit but his two guys in there didn't look too happy this morning. I would imagine he sold at least half of those on way up. Twice offered 5,000 in pit about half an hour ago, now bid up to highs again. Very strange.

    Holy Goldman Sachs

Came in and bought 35,000 ten years this morning from 111-15.5 up to 111-21.5, pretty much all on screen. Hardy selling all the way up, in the process right now of trying to push it back lower, just twice offered 5000 in the pit. Hearing rate lock unwind cause Goldman was size seller couple...

who is trying to squeeze bonds?

Adding to the squeeze stuff above, two guys right behind my desk fill for the fixed income guys at SAC and a couple big basis traders out in NYC and their guys are calling the CBOT asking about the 50,000 contract position limit last ten days of expiration. So my answer is mostly the fixed...

who is trying to squeeze bonds?

Bunch of spreaders long the NOB spread size most of today (that is long tens versus short the bonds). Fuji/Mizuho has sold about 8,000 of these last few days. That kept the pressure on the bond most of the day, then started to get some local selling in the last hour into some areas loaded with...

who is trying to squeeze bonds?

The reason the position limits were put on was because the potential squeeze during the last expiration. Furthermore, we had one f****ed up expiration, as June traded in a full 8 tick range almost 4000 times in the last 30 seconds. The position limits were put into affect mainly for the large...

    CBOT Lease Question

The AM membership is 1400 to lease versus the GIM which is 900 (nitro had them flipped around). I couldn't exactly tell you how much is saved, it all depends on how much size you are trading. If you are actively scalping or position trading every day more than a couple trades, it would...

    CBOT Lease Question

To trade 5/10/30's you need to lease either a GIM or an AM membership. This will enable you to get member fees while trading on the screen.

    t-notes today

That 30yr is definitely not as liquid as it used to be. That was kind of cool to see also, it was trading 16, then someone paid 21 on 500, and then the spike to 31. Then a bunch of locals putting out high-balls in the pit as that was occuring, didn't get near that screen high though. We ended...

    Baldwin Blows Out?

Chip Kenyon has not been on the floor in a long time. Last I heard was doing a lot of skiing and coaching his kids athletic teams. Can't forget both the Brumfields (Harris and Hardy) they were huge in the 10yr pit. Hardy is now the biggest 10yr local on the screen and his pit trader is the...

Resources for bonds and interest rate daily news

Bloomberg.com is free, the guys behind me use MCM Capital Markets (mcmwatch.com) and that one seems pretty good, not sure on cost of it though.

Resources for bonds and interest rate daily news

Bloomberg.com, go under "News and Commentary", then "markets", then "Bonds". There are usually good articles on themes of the day and they often interview some of the big bond guys out on the New York desks. Nothing deeply insightful just basic news and outlook on the markets.

    Huge Ten-year futures paper

Around 10am central time today after coming off the highs of 114-00 in the ten year the screen was suddenly bid for size, say 4000 or so, then 1000 trade, bid gets pulled, bid back again 1000 more trade, this proceeds a couple more times. At this point paper has sold about 5,000, then screen is...
