    Ice down

Yeah, the exchange is not liable for losses due to technical glitches usually. I've been reimbursed from my broker for bad fills in individual products before but I had to jump through hoops to get any money out of them. With a major outage like this though they will throw the exchange risk...

    Ice down

You are kinda screwed in the short term. If you have access to trade international futures markets like LIFFE you can hedge some commodities in a pinch, but what a pain. The postmortem on this outage should be interesting.

    Ice down

No, but I sometimes trade WTI and I would be PISSED right now with this move in crude. Luckily I am using NYMEX today. I had an outage awhile ago trading in WTI and that was enough for me. I would now rather have ICE as a backup to NYMEX than the other way around.

    Ice down

Yeah, don't understand this one at all. There are no major weather problems and either way they should have a backup power plan. My home office setup is looking more reliable than ICE right now .

Is there a faster way to get economic reports than CNBC or Bloomberg Channels

No, I've never used Forex Factory but I'll check it out. I subscribe to Reuters North American news feed and it is pretty good. The cost is much less ($65/mo) than DJnewswires or Bloomberg terminal so it is an option if you want faster news but aren't willing to spend a lot of money.

Is there a faster way to get economic reports than CNBC or Bloomberg Channels

I agree. If you are not willing to pay for a real-time news feed like DJ Newswires or Reuters, MarketWatch is your best choice. They are really pretty good for a free site.

    IB-standalone version?

    Yes, it runs on Vista.

    IB-standalone version?

I'm curious how everyone likes the new interface in TWS? I haven't upgraded yet and will probably not for now because I am so used to the old look. I have seen some feedback that is not very positive so I've decided not to upgrade yet... Thanks.

    Which Computor UPS to buy?

Yeah, in that case you might need to spend more $$$ on a UPS than I did. You can probably still stay less than $1000 which is not much if you look at what it could cost you in trading losses due to unstable power. If I were you I wouldn't skimp on this since your power is so unstable. You won't...

    Which Computor UPS to buy?

It is a standby UPS. The power in my area is pretty stable so I just needed something to cover brown outs and power outages long enough to manage open positions and shut everything down cleanly.

    Which Computor UPS to buy?

I purchased a UPS for my trading setup recently and have been happy with the purchase. I bought an APC 1500VA/865 watt UPS for my home office setup and I get about 30 minutes for a single PC and network setup. I originally planned on spending more for a larger UPS based on some analysis I found...

US Senators Unveil Plan Curb Oil Futures Speculation

More useless legislation out of Washington D.C. that does nothing but make the problem worse. Oil is global market so driving traders out of the US market with increased margins does nothing but drive the trading volume overseas. Why don't they stop driving up the budget deficits and control...

    IB possible problem tonight

Yeah, having problems closing out a position. Nothing is going through at the moment. I just get a light blue status color when entering a market order to close a position. Wait time on the phone is greater than 10 minutes. WTF IB? edit: Bulletin says there is some problem with their credit...

Reports Of Us Invasion Of Iran

Yeah, it would take a few minutes to destroy the Iranian "navy". I think it consists of a couple of speed boats and maybe a pontoon boat. They are a bug compared to our military. I wish they (Bush administration) would chill with the saber rattling and trying to create another Gulf of Tonkin...

Reports Of Us Invasion Of Iran

Read the article. Hardly an invasion. Single warning shot fired at Iranian speed boat from US contractor ship. This is similar to what happened in Jan. It is not an invasion so if you are going to post news at least understand it first. Besides, if Bush administration attacks Iran it will be...

How much should one risk in a single trade?

I would say do no more than 1%-2% per trade. It would depend on your time horizon and could be even lower for day trades. I'm sure if you search around ET you'll find this question already discussed multiple times (which is probably why no one has replied so far).

    Another WSJ Executive Resigning

I was joking. Either way, I will continue reading WSJ news for free regardless. There is no way am I paying for their news. The Post is good for a laugh, WSJ is still good for business news, etc. The age of paying for a single newspaper is fast coming to an end because there is so many competing...

Does the Dow Jones news feed suck?

Yeah, the OP said DJ didn't have a headline on it. Guess he was wrong. Thanks.

Does the Dow Jones news feed suck?

Reuters NA had it at 1:18:30pm. I suspect that is a little slow but would be interesting to see on BB since DJ apparently didn't have it all.
