Trading today's jobs report... Your ideas?

235k? BB was estimating between 400k and 1M jobs. It felt a bit like an earnings miss to me. Just a hiccup along the way. SnP holding steady. Job growth was strong in recent previous reports, and most jobs are being added in hospitality. Urban areas' slow recovery due to Δ fear, homelessness...

    IB FxTrader: CNY/USD and RMB/USD - 404?

Thanks. I'm also looking into using the "Wechat" app, which is a gateway to a lot of stuff in China. I've also been reading up on opening an account with one of the four Chinese banks, and getting some currency so I can pay in Yuan. Seems it's easier to get married and divorced.

Hello Forex People: Attempting to trade some Chinese pairs using IB FxTrader; specifically: Yuan CNY to USD, or Renminbi RMB to USD. They are not present in the system. Am I doing something wrong? Why can't I trade either of these FX pairs? Thanks, Keith

USD as world reserve currency coming to an end?

I didn't say that the $USD is coming to an end, I said that its position _as_the_world's_reserve_currency_ is coming to an end, and the Chinese $CNY/$RMB (Yuan/Renminbi) will take its place. In other words, its days as the earth's numeraire are numbered. ...additionally, it's a little...

USD as world reserve currency coming to an end?

I had an epiphany about this tsunami of Fed and ECB money printing. --> There is a structural change in progress --> The US Dollar is losing its place as the world's reserve currency. --> The Yuan is replacing the US Dollar --> Change is happening, and we're in the storm. --> It's often hard to...

What would force an end to Fed and ECB QE?

Basically the "Big Short" of COVID-19. The only problem is that we don't yet have the end of the story! Imagine properly timing the pop... wow... you'll be a millionaire overnight.

What would force an end to Fed and ECB QE?

I'm reading a book entitled "Extraordinary Popular Delusions," which details a number of bubbles in history, such as the tulip bulb bubble, etc. A common thread is how violently the bubbles end. Typically there is not an organized, steady, controlled exit from these bubbles--they do pop, and...

What would force an end to Fed and ECB QE?

A friend of mine applied the old analogy, "A rising tide lifts all boats." I said, "This is not a tide; this is a _tidal_wave_. A tide ebbs and flows, in and out; this is a tsunami of money printing."

What would force an end to Fed and ECB QE?

Wow... good point! What do you think of this idea: the Fed has its back to the wall if something else happens. Could they amp up their money printing to 240B, or 1T a month? Set negative interest rates? Real Rates are actually negative now. 1987 crash, 2001: 9/11, 2009: Mortgage Crisis, 2020...

What would force an end to Fed and ECB QE?

I was chatting with a friend today about the 120B/month being poured into the markets from the Fed, and a similar number from the ECB, in addition to other "artificial" economic support. There was a spot on BB news about how this money is elevating the markets. He said, "The Fed will do what...

How to become a money manager?

Ha! First, stop trading paper and start trading with real money, preferably your own. Get some skin in the game! Any capital holder will laugh in your face if you show them nothing but paper profits. Would you hand over $100,000 or more to someone who had nothing to show but Monopoly money...

Amazon Finspace - Security and Trust

What a nightmare. This is exactly the kind of thing I'm afraid of with Finspace, and any cloud-based service. Somehow database keys were exposed, which allowed anyone to connect to any DB. Ugh... I wonder how bad it really is; how many breaches go unpublished, and what other vulnerabilities exist.

Why Charles Schwab Broker show everything " Hard to Borrow" ?

I've wondered this myself. My theory is that since there's higher short interest fees for "Hard to Borrow" stocks... so they label pretty much everything that way.
