Is it easier to trade consistently for profits with futures than stocks?

What timeframe? If you can't make money with stocks, you will most likely not make in futures. Some points for stocks: Less efficient - main reason. Options more common/available No rolling to worry about Retail focused regulations. Maker/taker fee model. Cheap/free platforms and more tools. I...

    Gap strategy

Here's a strategy you can try to back test. Only play gaps which are at least 3 ATR away from yclose. Position size to Martingale all the way up/down to yclose at 1ATR intervals. This will also determine max gap you will trade measured in ATRs. The first part buy/sell at open in the direction...

    Feels Weird to win ?

Oh yeah ... like - I'm going to have to give it back sooner or later! :) The only way to deal with this, imho, is trade, trade, trade, until you gain enough confidence/stats to remove any doubt. Then you can say to yourself - yeah I'm in a slump, but I've been there before an I always get...

Developers building their way up to traders

This is what I was not sure of. If you are single, it's not so difficult to make changes. If you have family obligations (wife, kids, parents), it's much more difficult. However, in that case, you are NOT "slaving" but being a MAN by providing for your family at the expense of your personal...

    I don't understand

Yes! New people need to write it down an put on a wall.

    Curb your enthusiasm.

Sure, but how do you build a strategy around it? So let's say I find that in an up-trend an over-sized bullish candle has 60% of follow through on the next day (not actual findings). Let's say I enter at the open, where is my stop? What if it gaped up, does it change things? I used higher...

    I don't understand

Ok, So I assumed that when you compared 'big" vs "small" you meant intra-day vs multi-day.

    I don't understand

Oh, of course, the stop loss. No overnight/session/technology risks there. Sleep well :)
  14. Q

    Curb your enthusiasm.

It was not meant to discourage but provide a benchmark professionals use. Sure you can make 50% on your 10k account, but don't expect to sustain this return as your account grows(keeping draw downs in check that is).
  15. Q

    Curb your enthusiasm.

I agree on having multiple systems. But now you are just manually trading/timing the market and baktests becomebuseless You transaction costs increase as well while returns suffer. The problem with intra-day strats, imo, is that they don't really correlate to trends/regimes, so every day is...

    I don't understand

You need to explain this. Time in trade IS part of risk.
  17. Q

    Curb your enthusiasm.

One point that I found interesting is the requirement to be uncorrelated to the market and how rare it is.
