A tick on ES is 12.50 minus 4.80 for roundtrip so you make 7.70 if your right and lose 17.30 if your wrong. 2+/1 against you from the gitgo. Its even worse for the NQ. Playing for ticks is pretty rough row to hoe.

I think your getting way ahead of yourself SB. It seems to me that this question will resolve itself automatically. Your comfort zone will keep you in the proper size if your wise enough to let it guide you. If you are not comfortable with your risk you are putting yourself at a severe disadvantage.

In my opinion there is only one edge and that is EXPERIENCE.

I cant even imagine that kind of trading. I'm trading one mini contract and find it pretty exciting. When it becomes boring I will move up to two contracts until it becomes boring and so on ad infintum. I hope.:)

Thx for the info. I think I have another solution. I've got 5k I can put into my Datek account and with 4 to 1 daytrading margin I can offset with 800 QQQ with very little slippage. As long as I stick to the NQ this should work ok. I noticed that Globex was "unavailable" for a few minutes this...
