Short Candidates for coming COVID implosion

This is the best time of year for shorting - just look for stocks at or near 52 week lows. Many of these stocks get hammered at year end for harvesting the tax loss write off. My go to Covid play for both longs & short has been UAL, AHT, CCL, & AMC. Watching for TUP (Tupperware) to get to...

    Market data connection lost

I run TWS along with several other broker platforms - many charts opened in IB at once. My P.C. & Internet is a dog compared to yours & have no problems. If your running AV/Malware try disabling. Make sure your Router is not enable to do SPI (stateful packet inspection). Last is try...

    Does trendline work?

Trend lines always work - after all it is simply plotting a line, it's just information. How anyone chooses to use it for trades is on them.

What routes do you guys (and gals) use?

yea - I think you have it right, when IEX detects a crumbling quote (CQ) it auto reprices your resting displayed limit order to give you a price improvement. The CQ is caused by an HFT cancelled orders to penny jump using their speed advantage.

What routes do you guys (and gals) use?

On larger order the HFTs take advantage of their latency advantage to front run orders which gives you adverse fills. Most people think using a limit can't be gamed - it sure can since the quotes we see are yesterdays news in relation to the speed advantage the HFTs have. Using the IEX your...

What routes do you guys (and gals) use?

True - you don't get a rebate on IEX . Lets say you are buying 20,000 shares with a spread of 7 cents. For every .01 cent of price improvement you save $200. The rebate on ARCA for adding liquidity would be about $42. IEX keeps the HFTs from trading against you using stale quotes - on...

What routes do you guys (and gals) use?

I use NASDA/Island & Arca for smaller trade sizes, IEX for larger orders or wider spreads. IEX has a new order type that recently got approved 'D-Limit', this should be a game changer. Citadel is having a fit over the IEX 'D-Limit', filing big law suites against regulators - they say this...

The employees at Oracle are in for some serious culture shock, so are the locals in Austin they encounter.

Brokerage Firms...ya get what ya pay for

I had the same problem - unable to ACH into AMP. I snail mailed a check to them. It would be nice if they used a better ACH vendor.

The myth of letting your winners run

AAPLs volatility is on par with the QQQ most of the time, it is not very often when its range is expanding- prime time for a swing. You can find more volatility from small cap stocks. Typically swing traders position size is 5-25% of cap and hold a handful of positions when the market...

Do you think this is the truth about day trading?

The web is awash with big claims from day traders & scalpers, you would thing nearly are are killing it but published studies and comments from brokers paint an opposite picture. No shortage of degenerate gamblers, liars, ego maniacs, etc. on-line. As far as I am concerned anything I see on the...

Call Volumes "Absolutely Absurd" - Nomura Warns Sentiment Overshoot "Getting Scary" Ahead Of Quad Wi

We had the longest bull in history & the most hated, with very low public participation. Post Covid19 the public has piled in like never before, making 1999 look like a dressed rehearsal. You can't have a proper bear market until the public piles in, it may go much higher for years to come -...

Very safe place to park some cash

True, nobody knows how much further it may go before we see a big sell off. I would not short based only on sentiment or my opinions, I use price levels & start small shorting strong mkts. Near this top, the ET chatter was the Fed would never let the market go down. The day prior to this high...

Trump's got the worst stock market in my life time

Covid19 is a miracle for the market, the Fed dumped 10+ years of QE into the market & flooded the masses with more cash then they could spend - this funded a zillions of day traders.

    Quants Are Losing Their Minds...

That Quickly Quant is a real mess, claiming to his clients how the Russell 2k 'momo crash' was virtually impossible, sure it was big but far from historic. * The big parabolic moves in the Euro session almost always retrace at least 50% either in the ETH or in the RTH on the RTY/NQ/YM. On the...
