As software patents are not enforceable in Europe, it might be possible to do this from a European country. You need to seek expert advice.

    negroponte

Are you referring to the terrorist heavily implicated in the death squads in El Salvador: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6802629/site/newsweek/ http://users.westnet.gr/~cgian/negroponte.htm

    Controlling GUI in WinXP

The benefit of using a Linux live CD is that you don't need to screw around with your Windows installation.

    Controlling GUI in WinXP

Good application for a Linux distribution targeted at kiosk applications. You can find one here for free http://sourceforge.net/projects/boothbox that just runs firefox in full screen mode. There is a live CD so you can try it out by booting from CD.

    IB simulation trading account question

Is this SGXNK by any chance ? I tried via API. Error was something like "Contract can't be valued at this time". Does the simulated trading account only work on US exchanges ?

    Predicting Randomness - great research

I think their physics is a bit off if they expect the output of a geiger counter to be 'random'. From what I remember of this stuff, geiger counters have a 'dead time' ie if a particle arrives within some small interval after detection of the previous particle, it will be missed. So I don't get...

    TWS under RH-64 Linux

Just a guess ... Are you running the 'right' java ? Try putting the full path of the Sun jdk java binary at the front of the command line eg /home/myhome/jdk1.5.0_06/bin/java -cp jts.jar:jcommon-1.0.0.jar:jfreechart-1.0.0.jar:jhall.jar:other.jar:rss.jar jclient.LoginFrame . where...

    Alternatives to TradeStation?

The issue is quite likely that IB's feed is free for number of exchanges and low cost on others and they don't offer cuts of their data fees to third party software vendors.

    FINALLY-Ultimatum to Muslims

I wouldn't agree with that. Multiculturalism has been moderately successful in Australia. There are large communities that retain some of their orginal heritage and culture without any problem at all. There are those who would like to roll this back to the bad old days of White Australia, and...

    TradeMaven/Transact Meltdown

What are you talking about ? One of the links that you posted lists the following exchanges as ones where NATIVE stop orders are used CBOT, CFE, CME, DTB, E-CBOT, EUREX US, FWB, IBIS, IDEM, ISE, Soffex, SWB, SWX, VIRTX http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/orders/stop.php There...

    FINALLY-Ultimatum to Muslims

As far as I am aware, no official action of any sort whatsoever has been taken against any media organization in any western country for publishing these rather tasteless and low grade cartoons. In that respect freedom of the press is under no threat. In my definition freedom of the press means...

    TradeMaven/Transact Meltdown

I don't get your point. If specific order types are natively supported by an exchange then IB uses the native orders. If they are not then IB simulates them on their own servers. What else are they supposed to do ?

    Celeron vs. Pentium

If you want to confirm that the performance of the new box is about what is should be, download the free Sandrasoft benchmark tool and run some processor and memory benchmarks. There is a large list of results from other machines to compare with.

    Celeron vs. Pentium

First thing to do is have a look at the running processes with task manager and see whether it is the Excel app thats consuming all the CPU. It might be something else.

    FINALLY-Ultimatum to Muslims

The point is that there is absolutely zero chance that Sharia law would in the foreseeable future be implemented anywhere in Australia. Not at federal level, not at state level nor local level. And most certainly not in family law. And I would expect the same to be true in Canada. And it most...

    FINALLY-Ultimatum to Muslims

acronym, Couln't agree more. I'll add a couple of more comments. 1. This hate mongering is grossly irresponsible and severly detrimental to Australia's best interests. It is bound to reported in Asia and in particular in Indonesia and Malaysia with huge Muslim populations. It can only...

CME CSI Housing futures & options

I think that at least one of the spread betting companies in London introduced spread betting on housing a few years ago supposedly for hedging. As pointed out, the problem is valuation especially as real estate prices and trends are so dependent on the area/region. I think it wasn't very...

    Matrox G550 PCIe X1

A word of warning to anybody considering using Matrox multihead cards on Linux or other Unix boxes. Matrox is being less than honest with this statement from the Matrox page for the Millennium G550 PCIe x1 http://www.matrox.com/mga/workstation/3dws/products/mill_gseries/g550_pcie.cfm...

Can you think out of the box: show that Capitalism REQUIRES Socialism :D

Typical appeal to economics to avoid fundamental issues and obscure rather than illuminate. You have choosen a poor example of supermarkets where there is fairly decent evidence (at least in the UK) that the prices paid to their suppliers are unreasonably low and unfair due the supermarkets...
