    hiding your trades

This would not happen at my firm. We don't have a trading desk and the people that would service your account would never do that.

    hiding your trades

What makes you think Brokers "piggyback" their customer's trades? For futures we are Introducing Brokers to Penson Futures. Neither Penson nor my firm would be interested in your strategy from that point of view.

Getting an account not attached to social security number

Any account you open in the US, will require information on you. If the account is in an LLC or S-corp, the entity must give trading rights to you. The person with trading rights will be required to identify themselves. They will ask for your SS# and other ID. BTW, if your current business...

    Naked puts on emini s@p

I think he's correct. One reason to trade these broad based indexes, is that they offer protection from events. Single stocks have 30% down moves everyday, SPY does not.

    Odd Lots

ok, now I get it. 1x2 call spreads are great for selling vol, when you think the future or stock will move up slowly, or move sideways. I was confused by your description.

Do Firms Engage in Share Buybacks By Selling Puts?

Late 90's, tech firms were selling OTM puts and buying OTM calls, and bidding for stock. The option trades were all done OTC and the brokerage firms would layoff risk in the regular markets. The option trades were VERY large for those days.

I borrowed $25k from family in 1985. That started a career that lasted 25 years of profitable trading that supported my family very nicely. Short Sell and buy to get a dividend.

This appears that you are not required to repay the dividend on a short sell if you keep the short sale open for 45 days +. I'm going to read this article now. [/B] I don't think the IRS article says that. I believe it says you can't expense the dividend unless you meet the holding...

    Education For HFT

Any automated system connected to an API is HFT. Low latency trading requires being next to the data feed and works much better when co-located next to the exchange you want to route orders to. However, you don't have to be a member. You can direct connect if you need to through a member.

FX Short Term Trading - Black Swan Protection

I don't trade anymore. But when I did, I watched my risk all the time. However, you can only hedge the events that might happen. You can't hedge events that you not only can't plan for, but can't imagine. It's a waste of time and money. What are your suggestions?

FX Short Term Trading - Black Swan Protection

In my opinion, because a Black Swan Event is a surprising unexpected event, you can't plan for it. The cost of always over hedging for something that by definition is unexpected, is not worth the cost. Following proper risk monitoring on your trading will have to be enough.

    New prop regulations?

The biggest concern is with sponsored access. This is a direct connection to the exchange through a co-located server, with direct market access sponsored by the member. Before , these had very little protection. A black box connected this way could cause a lot of damage in the market. It looks...

    short in HFT?

I hate to correct people here, but all equities settle in T+3 unless the trade was negotiated differently. If the seller is long or short, there is no difference. Also, just because you received a locate, you're not except from being bought in. You can be bought in by your margin department at...
