Coach: The box idea looks interesting and I'm looking forward to watching how it plays out. The thing I'm not clear on is why you put on additional bull puts as opposed to bear calls. By putting on the box it seems to me that you are very concerned about a drop so why take on more risk in...

nlslax: I was a little surprised that you were asking me these questions, since I've had the impression, from your posts, that you are a sophisticated retail trader. But you're right it's the emotional side that we are all victims of. I lost about 25% of my account over the summer due to...

The trade I posted today completed an IC with about an overall 9% return on margin (after commissions), if both sides expire OTM. In general, my plan is to set up an IC, but I don't push it as much as I used to. I'm getting better at just being satisfied with one side if the market dictates it.

My trading style is to be fairly FOTM, so I'm willing to accept less credit perhaps than others. I typically trade 10.

So, Coach. I'm not sure I see what is stopping you from considering bear calls for March. Your comment below would suggest that your somewhat pessimistic, at least in the short term.

Just got filled on the SPX MAR 1330/1345 bear call at $0.60. I called ToS for help since I was asking for $0.65 when the mid was at $0.725 to $0.75. After looking at the individual legs, the ToS guy suggested $0.60. I relented, and got filled in less than 2 minutes.

I checked these strikes on ToS and assuming you mean Dec 2006, there was no put option listed with a strike of 1600.

Coach: The group of traders I follow are just about ready to kiss the uptrend goodbye. Are you considering any downside hedges just in case?

Put on another March bull put spread today. Got filled on the MAR 1180/1165 bull put spread at $0.80. This is where I like to be. 10 to 15 points below Coach's strike. That way I can watch what he does if we need to adjust. Esp. if we're gonna start looking at prego flies.

Got filled today on the March 1190/1175 bull put spread for $0.65. I don't have access to the ToS platform today and their website trading is really poor. So I placed the trade by telephone and got filled too fast (that probably means I left money on the table) :(

Murray: How did you do this? My understanding is that SPX option trading ends 15 minutes after stock trading (4:00 PM Eastern time). So did you place the trade after 4:00 and got filled by 4:15PM??

Coach: What do ya think. Start putting on March bull puts today given the downturn this morning or do you think it's going to continue after the FED today.

Extractor: This looks interesting. Which month are you quoting below and do you generally do the front month or other months when you place the trades. In your opinion what circumstances drive down the price of gold?

I just tried to order it from the website and couldn't do it. It takes you to a page with the order information and you can put in the coachphil20 but there is no button to click or anything to move forward. There is picture that didn't download and maybe this is the link to go forward, but...

Hey Coach: Now that you're going big time and since I know you like to put your money at risk to educate us here on the thread..... I was thinking, would you be willing to put on a position that will get you or is already in trouble so that you can "back test" the prego fly. Of course, I...

I guess I didn't notice Heather's position. Maybe she'll post and refresh my memory. I'm not intending to hold this until expiration unless the market pulls back significantly. The mid on ToS for this position is now back down to $0.45 and I expect it to drop even more as the weekend...

Got filled today on the following: FEB SPX 1325/1340 bear call at $0.50 The order sat for quite awhile with a mid of $0.50 to $0.55. I was doing other things and then heard the ToS "ding" that I got filled at $0.50 when the SPX was up about 10 points. However, shortly thereafter the...

Coach: Just out of curiousity: Will your plan to chronicle your SPX trades differ once you start prop trading? Are you going to be comingly (sp?) your trades at the prop shop with your trades at OX/ToS when you document them here in the forum?
