Is commission for IB API orders higher than normal orders?

    I stand corrected. Good catch.

Is commission for IB API orders higher than normal orders?

I believe you are correct. The Fixed pricing discourages directed orders to keep IB's routing costs down. In the Tiered pricing, every order has its own unique cost depending on where it is routed so there is no need for a penalty.

Is commission for IB API orders higher than normal orders?

I'm pretty sure it is only higher if you direct the order to a specific exchange. If you select IB's SMART router, then the commission should not be any higher than if you entered the order manually.

    Question about Hidden Orders

This is conjecture, but isn't it possible that lots of people are using IEX's D-Peg, Primary Peg, and Midpoint Peg order types? These are all non-displayed orders and they are all not routable outside IEX (see exchange rule book, section 11.190...

Is it illegal to hit your own order?

I have a relative who trades and also has an Interactive Brokers account. There was an instance where we were trading the same security unknowingly and our orders crossed. Weeks (or months I can't remember) later I will got an e-mail from IB requesting an explanation for the trade and I had no...

Did IB just screw me or was it the exchange?

I never said they have different information at IB then what you are seeing on TWS. I take it this is another of your IB conspiracy theories. When you call into IB and talk to an actual human, they can look at the audit trail and more importantly call the exchange on your behalf (something that...

We tried out JPMorgan's new free stock-trading platform

The only time your argument might fail is when prices go off at your limit price and you never get filled and then the price moves away from your limit. In that case it is possible your limit order would have filled at a different brokerage and maybe that was going to be a big winner for you...

Did IB just screw me or was it the exchange?

Well anybody who can read would see that you are trying to accuse IB of wrongdoing in a roundabout manner. There was no need to make that comment unless you are trying to purposefully disparage IB. Every broker has problems, including IB. In this case, the OP should have educated himself on...

Did IB just screw me or was it the exchange?

Simplest explanation is that you just happened to log out and log back in during the moment when the order finally got a status update. If you really want to know for sure, maybe the order's complete audit trail would tell you.

Did IB just screw me or was it the exchange?

You wouldn't have to wait 15 minutes if you called in about the order immediately when the status color turned pink. It is nice to know that I can call in if there is technical problem with an order and someone at IB can look at it. As for your other allegations, you have a known history of IB...

Did IB just screw me or was it the exchange?

You are jumping to conclusions just because it fits what you think happened. It's just a coincidence that when you logged out and back in, the status updated. If you had stayed logged in, you would have gotten the update but since you weren't, you didn't see it. Chalk this up as a learning...

    Interactive Brokers: Fixed or Tiered?

Look at the exchange fees on the Tiered section of the IB website. You will see that for market-on-open or limit-on-open orders, the main exchanges usually have discounts. I am seeing between 0.0005 to 0.0015 per share for the exchanges most opening orders would route to. The base IB rate is...

    Mark-to-market election

    1. I'm pretty sure you never get written approval from the IRS for Form 3115F. I'm sure they will contact you if it is not approved. 2. Don't know. Good luck.

    TWS with IB Discussion

You are sharing something that doesn't make any sense and you cannot back it up with any evidence.

    TWS with IB Discussion

I've been trading with IB for 18 years and this has never happened to me. Either you are mistaken or you are not providing sufficient detail to your allegations that make any sense. They do not hold directed limit orders. I see my directed limit orders working in the market every day, every...

    TWS with IB Discussion

I've been trading with IB for many years now and what you are saying here is not true. A directed limit order will always post to the exchange it was directed to. It is not held.

Has anyone been able to escape IB's price cap?

Obviously somebody is able to trade at prices that I cannot during these price capping episodes (i.e., I see the prints of people trading at prices that I can't). So if this is a regulatory issue, then each broker apparently can implement their own policy for it. Please someone show me a broker...

Has anyone been able to escape IB's price cap?

IB's price capping algorithm is idiotic when there is a market-moving event for a specific security. I have a couple of examples where IB's algorithm has hurt me financially. It basically comes down to the fact that I cannot control my risk at IB in certain situations. IB apparently thinks it...

Insane TSLA weekly option fill, busted

If you get a fill like that, you never know what your true market position is until after the fact. There are rules for busting trades and one of them is that the bust request has to be filed within a certain amount of time (usually less than an hour). Theoretically you can wait an hour and then...

IB Digital Security Card Expected Battery Life

The new card is probably 1.5 years old now for me. It is still like a credit card but the buttons have a little clicky tactile feedback unlike the previous card. I can't remember exactly, but the I think the new card has a bigger IB logo and looks a little better. I do nothing special to keep it...
