Psychology: Professional Trader, or professional gambler?

Let's make it 2 to 1 to simplify the arithmetic. If the favorite is 2 to 1, this means that should you take this wager, it will have a positive expectation (ie. "the odds will be in your favor") if the horse's probability of winning the race is greater than 1/3. Otherwise your wager has negative...

    Jokes

Ethel was a bit of a demon in her wheelchair, and loved to charge around the nursing home, taking corners on one wheel and getting up to maximum speed on the long corridors. Because the poor woman was one sandwich short of a picnic, the other residents tolerated her, and some of the males...

    Personal intraday circuit breakers

And a bloody good one at that! Of course I fully agree, spreadem, and this is what happens when I quote one part of my (latest) trading plan in isolation from the rest. Trading rule (3) is : Trading Rules[list=1].... .... Maximum contract size (MCS) = Equity / 5000, rounded to lower...

    Personal intraday circuit breakers

I find that a cap on the daily number of trades (in addition to the daily loss limit) will prevent unnecessary churning: Cease trading for the day should the daily loss equal or exceed X points (per contract). Cease trading for the day once Y round turns (per contract) are reached...

    excel formula question

For the sake of correctness, let me qualify my previous reply by stating that it is true for all cases except when cells a1 and a2 have range names "hand" and "bush" respectively - in this case, =LEN(a1) yields 8, as clearly a "bird" in the "hand" is worth two in the "bush".

    excel formula question

=LEN(a1) which should give you 4. (Note that if a1 contains 123.4, then a2 will equal 5)

    Mr Subliminal's Remote Trading Journal

To those who would interpret this as a covert attempt at reviving my nondescript journal, rest assured that it is merely a onetime update of my recent peregrinations. In fact the tone of this post will be serious and any references to humor will, as in the past, be purely coincidental. Not even...

    Complete 24 hour bid/ask data?

There are differences between the T&S of Qcharts, as presented in ArchAngel's es-ts.gif, and that of CME, attached as cme.gif. Apart from the occasional 1-second time differences, there is 1 print missing in Qcharts - 1,4,8,1,2 vs. 1,4,8,1,1,2 - for the 3 seconds in question.

    david blaine---magic ??

A must-see is the 4 part series "Breaking the Magician's Code: Magic's Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed" which recently aired on FX. It really cleared up the mystery behind most of the illusions and tricks that have had me baffled. (It also knocked off Penn & Teller, David Copperfield, Siegfried...

CME FTP Time and Sales Data - EMINI

The CME presents the ES tick data without bid or ask and, in the vast majority of cases, it is a simple exercise to determine whether the trade occurred at the bid or ask. In the few cases where there is room for ambiguity, an A or B is inserted.
