    cheapest broker no monthly fees

Yes I use Cunningham T4 every day. It is great. I believe that it is C-sharp though, not Java. For PFG Best Direct, all you have to do is ask and they will come way down on commissions if you have a decent account size. Lower than IB as I said. I have an account there. You have to...

    Who's Your Discount Broker?

Well it is somewhat separate from the main PFG operation but it is owned by the same parent: http://www.bestdirectsecurities.com/about/ParentCompany.aspx I have never seen anyone mention it - I do not know who if anyone is using it.

    cheapest broker no monthly fees

PFG or the CTS T4 brokers (there are many) seem to include all quotes for free. PFG has the advantage of no platform fee if you can get by with Best Direct. However it is a minimal platform and is sluggish so it is probably not suitable for most people here.

    Who's Your Discount Broker?

Same here in that one can negotiate a great deal with PFG on futures - better than IB - as good as any any where - and the platform is free. Does anyone use PFG for stocks and if so what kind of rate can be negotiated? Can you get them to drop the ticket charge? I mainly trade futures and...

    any option sellers

What do you use as a stop loss? I have seen all of the following suggested among others - twice the premium - three times the premium - wait until it goes into the money a little Also one has the alternatives of converting short legs to spreads, or rolling up the position. Of course...

    Broker for $500K account size

Right - in that case, you have to sue/arbitrate with your broker for negligence in letting somebody else withdraw from your account. But if they claim you were partly at fault in not taking proper precautions to keep your password secret or whatever, you might lose or have to settle 50/50 or...

    Broker for $500K account size

At most firms I know of other than IB, all fees are negotiable and the default values are quite high, much higher than IB. This means that if you switch from IB, you will pay much higher fees unless you negotiate each fee aggressively. You would have to negotiate all of - commission...

    Broker for $500K account size

Well IB has many clients trading millions. I doubt that you would be able to match IB's services and rates elsewhere with a $500,000 account. That is too small for the larger banks and brokers to give you rates that are as good as IB on as wide a range of services. (If you were just doing...

    Nat Gas European Options LN

I was not aware of these so thanks very much for pointing this out- I will trade these from now on since they are more liquid.

    Natural Gas

BTW there is an interview with Charlie Maxwell at http://media.bloomberg.com/bb/avfile/Economics/On_Economy/vRFR1AMFBeQM.mp3 in which he says that - we have not seen the bottom yet - he predicts a triple bottom yet to come, with the last leg down in November when storage will be fullest...

    broker bankrupt: currency futures safe???

I wish that futures accounts were segregated individually in the name of each client but unfortunately it seems that such is not the case. There is just one big "Client segregated funds" account maintained by the broker and if a deficiency occurs, everybody shares in the loss.

Best broker for small accounts, active trading and tax support?

There are complicated choices available in how you report FX, including optional elections, bookkeeping options, and doubtful issues, so that a broker probably could not come up with one way to report it. Also the IRS does not have standardized reporting formats as they do for stocks. If...

    Natural Gas

Could you explain more what you are doing with the future and puts? A long future is equal to a long call and a short put. Therefore, a long future plus long put is just the same thing as a long call. Probably I am missing the details of what you are doing.

Secondary Brokerage recommendation (already have IB)

I trade futures and have given up on IB and switched to a split of PFG and Cunningham CTS T4. IB's margins for futures options have gotten higher and higher if you trade distant months. Also who wants to pay quote fees for ICE? I am largely a futures position trader and have little...

Code for approximating SPAN futures options margin?

Yes I am going to code it and wanted to double check first. However I am going to do a very very rough implementation at first. I will try to post an outline of the code when finished if it looks of value. I already understand the principles. Here is the best outline I found...

    IB NYBOT Data Fees

Probably because they can't figure out when and whether ICE is actually going to start charging for quotes any better than anyone else can. Hmm, according to various news stories "ICE Futures Expands CME Rivalry With Plan to Offer Grains." It could be that brokers who agree to list the...

    IB NYBOT Data Fees

It's possible but I doubt that they can really threaten people into trading. It may all merely be a gambit by ICE to give vague notices to brokers and never really charge, just try and shake loose excess load on their quote servers from tire-kickers. I seem to recall that they said they...

    IB NYBOT Data Fees

It looks as if it is ICE that is playing the games - threatening to charge the fee and then not necessarily following through. IB and the other brokers are left to guess at what ICE's real intentions are and whether and when ICE will actually start charging the fees it keeps threatening to...

    How TT connected to CME?

It's not just the speed. It's also the reliability and redundancy in the case of a major communication outage that might affect other brokers. Also TT and CQG have the broadest set of international product listings.

    How TT connected to CME?

That is very interesting. How much of the TT software is hosted on Crossland's servers? Are orders still routed to TT for execution? If so, one might get most of the benefits. Another possibility is E*Trade. They are listed on TT's site as using TT*Net...
