    Niederhoffer new book

From the article you posted: The fund is "a combination of a strategic and tactical leveraged fund" and its strategy is "to take advantage of the unholy avoidance of risk that people are so prone to after a series of bad years," he said. "I provide insurance to those who are fearful of the...

What happens to unexpired options when a company is acquired??

The prior link has some good examples of adjustments. I have never been "cashed out", provided there is time remaining the contract. ITM and OTM have always been converted in some form.

What happens to unexpired options when a company is acquired??

It can work the same way - the number of shares is reduced/increased from 100 based on the price paid - same as if stock was used. The other option is that the strike can be adjusted using the same math...or sometimes a combination of the two. Much depends on what you as a shareholder...

    Scott Peterson and Double Murder

I was so traumatized by the whole thing, I couldn't tell you. I probably lost.

    Scott Peterson and Double Murder

Not that most of you would benefit from this, but I thought I'd share it since it relates to the Peterson case. About 12 years ago, I met a girl in a pool hall one night. We agreed to go out on a date a few nights later. The date went so-so, nothing special but we agreed to see each other...

    Scott Peterson and Double Murder

I agree with your earlier post. It's largely circumstantial at this point, but I'm sure they have some hard physical evidence for trial. These guys should have learned from the other high profile cases that have gone to trial, that you don't release extensive physical evidence for a number...

I could be missing something here. I am definitely sensing some serious anger and emotion. Second the lynch mob comment.

    Scott Peterson and Double Murder

OJ was guilty beyond any doubt. That was an extreme case of jury nullification. Some black folks basically said "we aren't going to send OJ to jail", and that was it. It didn't really matter what was presented in the way of evidence. I think OJ could have confessed to the jury in open court...

    Scott Peterson and Double Murder

I agree...no hard evidence yet but they should have some pretty solid stuff to have charged him. The circumstances against him are pretty extraordinary. It is certainly conceivable that he did not do it, and with what the public has now - I don't think it's enough to convict him. That said...

    Stop dealing options

It's QDZ alright...no doubt about it...or another whiner who has decided to get himself a new ID in the last few days. Listen buddy, take it elsewhere. Nobody here on the OPTIONS FORUM OF ELITE TRADER wants to hear what a ripoff options are to us traders. Many of us make a decent part of...

    hate all this prayer crap

You're right. I'll be trying to get someone there who can actually help. Just remember, all the people in the world praying simultaneously can't accomplish the work of one good trauma surgeon in a well equipped level I ER. A loved one is dying and I need to choose between help from...

    Comparing varieties of Poker

I have heard that there are video poker machines that are set to give a slight advantage to players who are trained to make the proper choices. There are folks who play these things for income, although I bet it's monotonous as hell. I guess there needs to be a merry go round in every...

    hate all this prayer crap

I have been a medic for a number of years at a local fire dept. Just once, I have wanted to walk up to an accident with multiple people trapped and ask loudly... "those of you waiting for God to extricate you from this wreckage, please moan." God has not arrived yet, but we have cleared a...

    hate all this prayer crap

Maybe religion is a "strength/weakness" thing. I'm at a funeral of a relatively close friend who died suddenly and prematurely not long ago. I am certainly more upset than most there, yet not as close to the guy. I am not a religious person and they are. I guess my feeling is that this...

    Comparing varieties of Poker

    1. You can play any time you want, for an hour or for 10 hours. 2. You can play from home, no need to shower or even get out of your underwear if you like. 3. Most games allow you to keep specific notes on opponents. I can't do that at a live table. 4. I can do other stuff on the puter...

    Niederhoffer new book

I believe that most of what he purportedly discusses in the new book is a smokescreen for what he's really doing. Why would he own equities when he made nearly 40% a year selling premium? If something works for that many years, you don't abandon it. Selling premium was NOT the problem. It...

    Comparing varieties of Poker

That depends on who you're playing against. The odds are irrelevant when they are the same for everyone. It's how you deal with the cards you've been dealt vs. the number of people at the table. Heads up is a completely different game from having a full table.

    Niederhoffer new book

Is not all trading gambling? The difference between blowing up and not is risk mgmt - repairing that which has gone awry before it's too far gone. VN's style was very similar to playing poker well. There were known chances of given events happening and he took appropriate bets/trades. Like...
