    Bond rally nearing an end?

"Long-term Treasury prices tosses off their morning losses to trade higher at midday Tuesday, sending yields lower, benefiting from capital flight out of the stock market." This is how my system is playing the flight to quality.

    Bond rally nearing an end?

It's still in Excel. Why should I convert to other software when I already have it working in Excel? Also, I use fundamental data which some software doesn't support or makes it more difficult to do. If it was only price data (a technical analysis system), I probably would use something else...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

It's quite funny that you ask that. I read all the time on these boards or in Market Wizards or all those trading psychology books (Trading in the Zone) about how hard it is to stick with a system. I have absolutely no trouble doing this. In fact, my system is at the low end of it's...

    Bond rally nearing an end?

I'm still long too. Why? Because my system says to be. I short from 1/27 until I went long on 5/26. I am also short stocks, since 11/18. I believe we might have a stock market crash here and a flight to liquidity (10 year bonds). But my beliefs don't affect my quant system.

Phoenix/Scottsdale or just AZ in general?

Can't do Saturdays (Jewish) and I don't trade options. I really want a systems trading/automated/quant club for Phoenix/Scottsdale.

Phoenix/Scottsdale or just AZ in general?

I didn't know we had any local Market Wizards in town. Cool! I'll have to look them up.

best language for quantiative finance? C, D, Fortran, python etc.

Not a professional quant because: 1. I don't have a PhD or anything like that which all the hedgies/institutions want. 2. I don't want to spend all that time programming. I do all my quantitative analysis in Excel and am more interested in doing that work that programming my system. (I...

    Statistical relevence on weekly charts?

Not sure what you are doing, but I have an end of week system (I don't look at charts, but I use technical analysis - quant type stuff). One EOW system trades on average 4 times a year. The other trades on average 12 times a year. So that's a lot more than your systems. But yes, if you...

Report: Markets 'Are Like 1987 Crash'

Emerging markets also crashed in 97/98. Why is this more like 87 than 98?

Report: Markets 'Are Like 1987 Crash'

To go back to the title of this thread. I think this decline/crash is more reminiscent of 1998 than 1987, especially in terms of liquidity and risk tolerance.

How fees are calculated really depends on what is in your offering documents. Ask your lawyers and accountants/auditor.

    Is Chairmen Bernake Incompetent?

Just one problem. Historically, governments mess around with commodity money as well. The Romans were famous for it. Adam Smith writes about it in The Wealth of Nations. Murray Rothbard writes about it in many books. As long as the government manipulates money, does it really matter...

Kinematics, Calculus, and other higher maths

"Nowhere does history indulge in repetitions so often or so uniformly as in Wall Street. When you read contemporary accounts of booms or panics the one thing that strikes you most forcibly is how little either stock speculation or stock speculators to-day differ from yesterday. The game does not...

Kinematics, Calculus, and other higher maths

When you've read it 5 times, then we can start talking..... [That doesn't mean I've only read it 5 times. I've lost count of how many time I've read it. I read it once or twice a year.]
