Why nobody remembers February 27, 2007 correction? The Shangai Surprise?

I did, since its my bday :) and I do remember going out to dinner in Manhattan and hearing the whispers at the steakhouse we went to about the carnage that day.

    Scalping scalping scalping...

Hi Kitty, I can attest to what NYOB and Sword are saying. I traded NYSE stocks for several years and they are both right. You dont need that much BP to cause programs to jump out and cause movement. Its not something that any beginner should try but to the well trained eye, like NYOB I'm sure...

Software Used to Trade Jack Hershey Methods

Hey guys, Ive been having a bit of difficulty lately with my PRV tool. Some days no problems and some days there is obvious discrepancies btw my chart/quote provider (Esignal) and my QT PRV tool outputs. I thought that by linking QT to Esignal that the data should be symmetrical but its not. I...

How did you switch to price action only?

If you have only been trading off indicators and not off of reading price action and want to learn to read PA, my personal opinion is you will have to re-learn to trade all over again. I'm not sure how one can go from one frame of reference for picking trades and then switch to another one...

Eric Bolling: Cut losers quick is the key to making money.

I'd say the key is first to be right a good amount of the time and then to cut losers quickly. If you just know how to cut losers quickly, you're still losing money :)

Mark Brown and his Snowball Strategy

Where did I "belittle" and "ridicule" everything you have worked so hard for? All I said was I, yes I, believe that the human mind is still the best computer and thats why I, yes I, choose to harness all that I can out of it so that I continue to trade well. I even mentioned the fact that I...

Mark Brown and his Snowball Strategy

The difference is, I am succeeding against computers, people, whoever else. Im not belittleing anything. All I'm saying is that my thought processes are so complex that I dont think I can replicate my success, consistency wise, through trying to code it up. There are too many variables, subtle...

Mark Brown and his Snowball Strategy

Haha, fairy tales. Thats a good one. Go right ahead and call my old firm, Hold Brothers, and ask them about me. I'll tell you what, I will provide audited results for you, and if I do, you give me a grand for my troubles. I mean, if you are going to call me out here as a liar, certainly proving...

Mark Brown and his Snowball Strategy

I'm sorry if I am just better at trading than you are. I tried being civil with you and you do nothing but chastize me. Of the two of us, I am the only one who has posted six figure earnings on this board for 2 years. I did so because it forced me to be disciplined (everyday w/o fail), the same...

Mark Brown and his Snowball Strategy

Well, my discretionary approach in stocks was based on the rules that the MARKET gave me. Over time, I learned to understand its movement and adapted my trading to fit into ITS rhythm, not my own. No ego for me, my only concern was will I be able to read its signals fast enough and act fast...

Mark Brown and his Snowball Strategy

A trading method does not have to be "backtestable" for it to be legit. Someone pointed out to me that a "highly cognitive method" such as the hershey method requires too many variables and slight changes in context that only the human mind can acct for in the heat of battle and in the quickest...

Mark Brown and his Snowball Strategy

Of course backtesting isnt going to work on a highly discretionary trading method such as the Hershey method since the person doing the backtesting would need to be highly familiar with all the contexts and situations one would encounter. If you dont know the ins and outs of the method, how can...

    Favorite trading books

I actually got "Enhancing Trader Performace" by Brett Steenbarger as a christmas gift, I read it while on vacation in Cozumel 2 weeks ago. I actually really liked it, there are few trading books I find worth reading these days (that I havent read already) but this was one of them.
