How many of us ET traders are up or down this year?

I am up about 65k so far, hoping to end the year btw 100k-110k. Hoping next year at this same time I can be up 110k and looking for 200k :D

Anyone solely trade the SPY's or QQQQ?

Actually I havent traded stock index futures. I work at a prop firm and believe that they do not offer the ability to trade them unfortunately. I'm just so used to trading equities, that etf's seem like an easier transition. The SPY's do about 52 million shares a day so I really like the...

Anyone solely trade the SPY's or QQQQ?

I am curious if anyone of this site focuses on trading ETF's, primarily the SPY's and QQQQ's? I have been focused on only trading NYSE for the past 2+ years and have traded these ETFs before but have recently become interested in trading them once again. Anyone have any comments, stories, or...

    Stock Scalper's P&L

No problem Stockman, everything is cool. Please continue to post your results, I am very curious to see how well this site does in the upcoming months. Good luck with everything!

    Stock Scalper's P&L

Mike, I appreciate your moderating of the thread here and yes things have gotten off topic. In his first post he was condescending with me about not wanting advice from a "rookie trader". Thats how that whole thing got started. Look, a year from now if you guys are still doing great, my hat...

amazed at migration fron naz to nyse for traders

The NYSE is just more inefficient and easier to read, but I think the Naz offers a lot more opportunities to make bigger money (NYSE news stories aside). There are just more speculative issues on the Naz which makes for more movement.

    Stock Scalper's P&L

Look man, I am not gonna to stoop to your level with these homoerotic implications. Thats just immature and not helpful. I replied to one post, with some skepticism because the results you have had are very good, in fact almost too good for someone so new to the game. Yes, I said NEW to the...

    Stock Scalper's P&L

Winter, This is the response that Mr. Stockman should be posting. Instead of being condescending, this would be a more appropriate response to criticism.

    Stock Scalper's P&L

If you spent the better part of a decade as an unsuccessful swing trader, then YOU should know that stepping into a new arena (yes daytrading is a new arena to you, much different that swing) and making huge gains is very unlikely. At least for the long run. I'm not saying your results arent...

    Stock Scalper's P&L

As you know since you have been a trader for 8 years now, that sizing up in a new facet of trading can be disastrous. When i read you posts about taking 1000-2000 shares of BIDU, my first instinct was to figure out how long it would be until you blow your account up. I have been trading prop...

Series 7 and a Financial Mindset

The series 7 is a relatively easy exam, just give it it's due attention and you'll be fine.

TD, Just curious, what is an avg net positive month for you?

    Student of the market

TD, I think you will get to where you want to be because you seem to be very concerned with self improvement and are very persistent. As long as you continually search for ways to improve yourself, I am fairly confident you will get what you want out of the markets. I think the main reason...

    Student of the market

I dont want to sound like a downer, but I am a realist when it comes to the markets. I think you should prepare yourself for the fact that you probably wont be net positive consistently for at least 8 to 12 months. New traders always come in with unrealistic expectations of how fast they will...

    Risk/Reward...some thoughts...some questions

If you are an active trader (ie at least 4 or 5 trades a day minimum), I think its nearly impossible to gain an 80% success rate consistently over time. There are just so many variables to every trade and so many things that can go wrong even in a "perfect setup". I probably avg about 80...

newbie how to make money off of 5000 grand

    Trading for a Low-Paying Living

I will never understand people who will only trade the market in one direction. You dont choose which way the market is going to trade, it tells you which way it wants to go and believe me, its not always up. Why limit yourself?

BIDU - ipo day trading stories

I am assuming you are new to trading based on the fact that you are paper trading, and it blows my mind that you would even think to get involved in BIDU. This is EXACTLY why so many fail at trading.

    Trader P/L 2005

I lost $1.13 on WLS the other day on the next print and I can guarentee you there was no way out for less than that loss. Thats the way it goes sometimes. Luckily I only had 300 shares so it was only a $350 loss. Glad i didnt take 1000+ shares!

    NYSE trade through

If you hit an ECN, you get the fill. Regardless of the NYSE best bid or ask. Now, if your fill is a certain % away from the going market, you may be able to get the trade broken.
