end of dayers how many stocks?

I have a short-term system that I tested with 2 through 8 stocks at a time. The changes in returns were substantial and linear based on number of stocks, though tests all were profitable.

end of dayers how many stocks?

I have done some testing with this and found that fewer stocks generate greater return, but more stocks produce a smoother equity curve. Both are good, depending on your preferences. Other traders have confirmed this.

Italy's Berlusconi backs ban of futures markets

The more I read about Berlusconi, the less impressed I am. I doubt anybody outside Italy takes him seriously. But I seem to recall a few years ago, the SEC chairman made a comment that he saw no reason why futures margin should be any lower than stock margin. Cluelessness abounds!

Is this a liquidity bull market?

There are two possibilities. We may have reached a new permanent plateau of prosperity (ppp), in which case: Why don't all those unemployed people become day traders? It's free money! The other possibility is that we're back in a bubble. . .

Goldman Sachs CEO Blankfein: "We didn't realize how bad things would get."

It's not greed, it's called "ego".

After advice from others who know better!

I'm not suggesting your problem is autotrading per se. I have tried longer-term investing, trading in an arcade, and autotrading. Only the latter worked for me, but that's because of my nature, and each of us is different. I prefer autotrading because I get bored easily, and it gives me...

After advice from others who know better!

Your experience is pretty typical, I would say. Finding something that works, especially using price action or indicators, is by far the hardest part. But I also believe that the notion of building a trading bot that can run unattended while you go lie on a beach or work at a day job is...

IB stop loss triggered AND executed outside of trading range

Thanks for that info. It has been a while since I traded on Globex. I see that IB offers "Market with Protection", but I don't see "Stop with Protection". Stop orders on IB: http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/orders/stop.php?ib_entity=llc There is a maximum you may specify...

IB stop loss triggered AND executed outside of trading range

This is very slightly offtopic. If you are using plain stop orders, when elected they become market orders which are not native on Globex. You might consider using stop/limit instead. The order will then be held at the exchange instead of simulated on IB's server. I have had some really bad...

    Windows XP Clock Losing Time

Is there any chance that you made configuration changes? Long, long ago (in the PC-XT era), I noticed that my clock lost time when I wasn't running in turbo mode. My first thought was the CMOS battery. As you said, it's probably not that, but I would change it anyway because it's not that...

    What does this mean?

Somebody may be printing a trade that occurred off-exchange. All trades much be reported by law.

    Are you a remote trader

My initial thought was "remote proprietary", but then I realized the OP never mentioned prop. I have always supplied my own capital. I tried trading in an arcade but found it not conducive to trading well. I trade for the money, not camaraderie or excitement.

    latest P.kaufman book, any good?

I haven't read the Short Course, but I noticed Kaufman has a new book, Alpha Trading, due out in 2010. There isn't much out there for an experienced trader, and Kaufman is one of the best.

    movies on trading

I didn't like Rogue Trader. I was bothered by such callous disregard for other people's money. Being trusted with OPM should be regarded as an honor and a privilege, not as an opportunity to take unfair advantage. The movie was well made, but I couldn't watch the whole thing.

    help a ETer out

Assuming the OP is legitimate, this is the best advice so far. You're trading much too big for your skill level. If you have to ask how to manage the trade, you're not ready to trade with real money.

Value Added Monthly Index - VAMI

I don't know of any such data. I think this is an example of what such a graphic might look like: http://www.portfolio123.com/port_summary.jsp?portid=171479

Value Added Monthly Index - VAMI

I believe you are correct. I noticed that the calculations in the CME booklet are off by a small amount. My guess is that the person who prepared the example did not use a computer. [rwk]

Value Added Monthly Index - VAMI

The CME reprinted a booklet in 2000, How to Become a CTA, that describes the 13-column format required by the CFTC. I don't know if this information is still current or whether the booklet is still available. The columns are: beginning equity, additions, withdrawals, gross realized profit...

    Real Estate Investing

"Short sale" is a misnomer as applied to real estate. It's called that because the lender accepts an amount short of what they are owed. I cringe every time I hear that term used. I have done a bit of real estate investing and made money at it, but it doesn't suit my personality and...
