IB is probably the most strict futures broker out there. They constantly change their margin requirements and autoliquidate margin calls in minutes sometimes. There are much less strict brokers out there that are better suited for smaller account sizes.

margin debt is the highest it has ever been, higher than 1999 and 2007 if fed keeps hiking deleveraging will occur; almost everybody is all in at this point

you don't fix congress; there is nothing to fix; the system was made to create friction even with trump in office and a full republican congress, they can't get anything done; it's all just talk but mom and pop are buying it up pushing stocks to all time highs

not as sad as my day/week back in 2015 trying to "invest" in the shanghai index; i bought into the chinese stock market hype back when the chinese government was pumping money into the market thinking the bubble would keep on going went almost all in on margin in the shanghai index on a friday...
