    CNBC - Cramer's Mad Money

EBAY up almost 2% after Cramer touted it last night. Unbelievable how he can move a $50B stock, albeit on volume of around 1% of the average daily volume.

    KMG 70 Call

These apparent discrepancies are becoming more common. After NFI went ex-div - $1.40 - the front-month calls went down by around $1.10, and the front-month puts increased by a small amount. This is according to the people in the Yahoo msg boards who were kind of pissed; I don't have access to...

    Abt May 50 Call

ABT is big pharma, like JNJ and MRK. The IV for all of them is usually pretty low. You may have better luck with MRK options, which I've found have pretty low IV even after major moves.

    CNBC - Cramer's Mad Money

briefing.com can move low-volume stocks by a few percent within a minute. People seemingly blindly follow their advice or claims of a news item. (One time they attributed the news to the wrong ticker, mixing up CHTR and CHRT, and the stock they mentioned went up anyway, then went back down...

    Schwabtrader CT vs. Cybertrader

When I talked to Cybertrader reps at last year's Traders Expo, they said that the Schwabtrader and StreetSmartPro platforms were at the level Cybertrader was 3 years previous. When I looked at the Cybertrader CT demo, it looked substantially the same as StreetSmartPro (which I've used for a...

    Getting The Most From Ameritrade

Are you talking about Streamer Charts? They're intraday only, with bars ranging from 1 min - 30 min, so if you want a moving average on the order of days or weeks you need to configure it to use a correspondingly larger number of periods. Better just to use bigcharts.

    Getting The Most From Ameritrade

News is a mixed bag. Ameritrade provides press releases and DJ newswires, but not the full Comtex feed. You can only get news for the current day. You can provide lists of tickers for which you want to see relevant news, and assign a color to each list so that if you want to view a montage of...

    Nikkei 225

I see that the CME has a Nikkei 225 futures product, too: http://www.cme.com/prd/eq/nikkei6454.html and in the brochure they claim the yen-denominated version can be traded around-the-clock.

    Daytrading options

If you have only a small account (e.g. $15K in day trading buying power), you can have some success in daytrading options that have small spreads and an IV that's a bit less than it should be, so that 10 or 20 option contracts are affordable (e.g., in recent days, QQQ, DIA, and TTWO). It of...

    E-Trade robbed me!

E*Trade's commissions page claims that option exercises only cost $19.99. Did you do this all online or did you talk to a live broker?

    ACAS Spike Down

BTW, I took a look at the options... are the option prices for ACAS always this sucky? Spreads generally $1, and all the 25 calls from April through November have bid prices that are .30 to .50 less than intrinsic value.

    ACAS Spike Down

Been over an hour and a half since my buy. How long until we can be reasonably sure it won't be busted? When this happened with COCO, both last December and in the March 23 premarket, it took less than an hour for them to decide to bust the trades.

    TASR options

There's an article (commentary) about TASR options at http://www.thestreet.com/_mktw/options/stevensmith/10152116.html. Some quotes: Smith also suggests that as ITM calls are exercised, there may be a runup of the stock due to people short the calls having to buy to deliver.

Old tale TWS freak when markets move.

I wasn't bashing IB. Friday's downtime was the first time in a couple months that I had more than a few-second outage with them, which is pretty darn good as brokers go. Corroborating someone else's problem report should not be interpreted as a bash.

Old tale TWS freak when markets move.

Problems started for me at: 09:43:52 JTS-Listener2: Unknown broken socket situation. This persisted, looping like this: 10:00:12 JTS-Ping: It's time to reset the connection. 10:00:12 JTS-Ping: The socket has been declared broken 10:00:12 JTS-Ping: Writing page file 10:00:13 JTS-Ping...

ET Brought Down by Garbage Truck

In fact, it's standard procedure when someone orders redundant phone or data lines to their building that the company laying the lines takes care to separate them by at least the width of one backhoe.

    Gay Marriage

It's a break in certain cases, but much of the "marriage penalty" argument is based on the comparison between a joint return and two individual returns. And people can debate endlessly on whether that's a fair comparison. If my spouse and I each earn $90K, should we be taxed the same as a...

    YM options

Can you trade within the spread with YM options? DIA takes around a minute before they post my option bids/offers, and (at least this past Friday, when I was watching pretty intently), my offers would occasionally be unposted for 10-30 seconds, then get reinstated.

    PDT question?

That may be true for some brokers, but not all. http://www.mytrack.com/dtfaq.htm , for instance, says (I'm not a mytrack customer; I just found their take on the rule while doing some research.) Also, a broker may consider expiration of worthless options to be a trade, so you may want to...

    IMCL Options....

The last two high-profile FDA approval cases I've seen where approval was expected (ICOS and IMCL) have both shown moderate sell-the-news reactions, accompanied of course by a huge deflation in the options' IVs. So a moderate bear spread would be reasonable. In my case, I was already long the...
