    HF Blowups - Long energy

I agree completely with the heatrates all over the place, but what do you mean about not being able to get a market in Sep '08? Has it not been mingled with gas all along too? I see the bids/offers flicker on the screen on the monthlies that are derived from nat gas. Ercot... 4k a MW...

    HF Blowups - Long energy

Sure.... http://local.yahoo.com/slideshow.php?id=19033719&start= On a more serious note, I haven't heard much from them in the cash electricity markets as of late.

    Options House $9.95 Flat Commission

"Platform" is web based. I just don't understand how a startup (I know peak6 is not a startup) could go so far, but skimp on one of the most important parts.

    Fed Funds Futures

The "fed funds rate" you hear about on the news is a "target" rate. Even though the "target" rate may stay the same, the actual rates my vary. The fed funds futures settle against the actual rates. There is another thread on ET that describes these quite well.

    History of S&P Futures Margin

Emini S&P didn't start until 1997-ish I believe, so going back 20 yrs. isn't really possible. Keep in mind that the big spoo contract used to have a $500 multiplier instead of the $250 multiplier in the big contract now.

What are the most volatile futures markets?

Yeah , you're right... its Ice... even though OI on the ice has declined while WTI has doubled...

What are the most volatile futures markets?

OTC electricity beats them hands down. On Ice they are labeled as "swaps" , on Nymex, "futures" . Symbol JD on nymex, although all the liquidity is on Ice. $50 swings * 800 mw = 40k. This is not out of the ordinary.

Scam : http://consumerist.com/tag/mygallons/?i=5022061&t=bbb-says-mygallonscom-omitted-fact-in-advertising-has-no-contract-to-process-transactions Was very wary of them from the start. Never bit the bullet and signed up.

    pit vs. electronic volume

http://www.nymex.com/media/071008.pdf See page 16. Subtract globex volume from total volume, and I'm assuming "other" volume are block trades, so you'll probably want to subtract those as well.

    Prepaid Gas Cards ? Anyone....

Looks like they were using the voyager network to process their transactions, and voyager's reseller is no longer willing to honor the agreement Who's backing this? The guarantee means nothing.

    Prepaid Gas Cards ? Anyone....

I've thought about this time and time again. Any company that comes out with something on a large scale will be guaranteed instant success. There is already a place up north that does it http://www.firstfuelbank.com/ Then there is the guy that owns http://www.fuelbank.com/ ... Apparently...
