What are the best prop firms in NYC

Exactly. I feel sorry for those ticket writing machines who are churning their accounts to death. Especially in this kind of market. Poor inefficient bastards...

    New Specialist trick today.

If other people had sell stops in place before you went market, then they would be part of the 10,000 share print. For some reason, stop orders are filled before plain market orders even though technically they are the same thing. Maybe stop order fills are automated whereas market orders are...

    Is Syria Next?

I'm worried that this war, originally perceived as a relatively quick and painless campaign, will degenerate into a Vietnam-like quagmire with large coalition casualties. It is apparent that even Iraqi civilians don't want us there and, in many cases, are hindering the coalition effort. US...

anybody know how to lodge a complaint regarding specialist order handling???

Oh well, times are tough even for Specialists. They've got to steal, ahem, "make" their money somehow! I agree, the above scenarios happen to me every day, but what can you do? P.S. I don't think the specialists make that much money due to decimalization and the bear market. They are...

anybody know how to lodge a complaint regarding specialist order handling???

Some specialists are crooks. No doubt about it. As far as market orders and NX orders, you have to learn what situations to use them in. A fast moving stock with small bids and offers is where you should use market orders. You can try to limit your way in, but you won't get the print. And...

Not Cashing In On Pay Day

Just because you can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done. I sit with guys who are net positive EVERY single day and I'm getting there. Keep your unfounded generalities to yourself.

technicals and stochastics are pointing upward

I dunno. A one day short squeeze doesn't quite signal a reversal to me.

    Level 2

Time and Sales is useful but doesn't show depth of the market. NYSE OpenBook and Level 2 do this. You need to integrate all of them to gauge buying and selling interest.

Does any firm offer a good gross payout these days??

What does this mean? You're either 100% gross positive, 100% flat or 100% gross negative for year-end. There is no in-between! This is like saying that my wife is 87% pregnant! P.S. Being gross positive every day of your life doesn't mean a damn thing if your costs exceed your...

Today was almost like a vacation...

I found today very difficult. Huge offers being continually lifted by huge buyers in my stocks. It made my head spin! After commissions, I was flat because I churned a lot...it made my head spin! Until we're really in a bull market, I'll have trouble making money on days like today. My...

    E*TRADE Professional , anyone?

That is the proprietary trading arm of E*Trade, formerly known as Tradescape and Momentum Securities (before E*Trade acquired them). They primarily trade Nasdaq and they have a good software platform (Lightspeed). Professional outfit (at least when I traded there from '99-'01). Commissions...

I'm at Hold Brothers in Jersey City, NJ. So far, I'm quite happy with their technology and the way I've been treated. Very professional outfit.
