    Exposing one Donald Bright

Optional, I keep checking the computer every time I'm around it for more humor. I must admit that getting you riled is 90% of the fun I'm having on this board. But, what's a Ubertrader? And.... are you sure you asked your Mom for permission to come out and play? i'm just hoping...

    Exposing one Donald Bright

"Why do you live out there?" The weather is fantastic. It's only really hot about 3 months out of the year. The rest of the time it's great! Even in summer you can go out early or late and the temp is just fine. Also, there are no state or city income taxes. This is big!! Further...

Because it's fun, dodo. I show it to my friends and they laugh with me. Now, give me your Mom's phone number and I'll ask her if you can come out and play.

    "Bullets"

There is indeed risk to the firm selling you the bullet. Let's say, for example, that the stock is halted and the company in which you own the bullet is bought out at a 50% premium. You own a put with a strike price that is not 50% greater than the current market price. So, while your...

    Lynx Capital Partners

Don is always frowning upon Sub LLC's for the same reason he and his brother used to bad-mouth LLC's in general. Now that they ARE an LLC, I don't hear him bad-mouthing LLC's any more. Sure, some have gone bust, but so have firms of all structures. The simple fact is that whatever the...

    Exposing one Donald Bright

I actually think your posts are quite funny, and I enjoy the pix. Jabba and the chimp do bear a resemblance to Don. For you info, I am in one way similar to Mr. Buffett. I eat at all the buffets in Vegas. However, I have to wonder whether your reference to yourself as Pee Wee Herman...

    Exposing one Donald Bright

I have two responses to Bryan's statement that I have a larger ego than most ultra successful traders: 1) Small genitals don't lend themselves well to a large ego, so I think you are not correct. 2) Whatever ego or opinions I have are left at the front door every day of my trading life...

    Exposing one Donald Bright

OK, wow, 23 pages. You guys certainly have some opinions, but I don't think many of you even know the Brights. I traded there from Aug 98-Jan 2002. I started with $25k and retired early this year. In 2000, I was the #1 most profitable trader in the Bright system, and I made a very good living...

Are you implying anyone who only goes long is a "homo" trader?

    Series 7 Questions???

I have a Series 7. The bankruptcy should NOT disqualify you from taking the exam. Some of the exchanges will not let you be a member if you have filed in the last 3-5 years, but this is subject to challenge. Bad credit won't disqualfy you from taking the exam, as I understand it. My advice is...

    Short Only Traders

A shrink I know once told me about a guy who could only make left turns. It certainly made it harder to get where he wanted to be.

can you short stocks under $5?

I believe the rule is that stocks under $5 are not marginable if you are going to short them. So, I believe this has to be done in a cash account.

Class Action Lawsuit against NYSE Specialists

I've traded 500 million shares or so on Nyse in the past few years and here are my thoughts on the issues raised: 1) Read the NYSE rule book. It's long and a lot of it isn't relevant, but you stand a better chance in any dispute if you can quote a rule. For example, with respect to updating...

    I'm capitulating

OK. So, the FDIC only has $20 billion or so. So what? The idea the US government wouldn't step due to some "inability" just ain't so. Remember who controls the printing presses at the US mints. While I'll grant you that banks' derivative exposures are somewhat opaque when looking at their...

Just saw the infomercial. I don't know if this has been discussed before here. It's truly outrageous.

It's Vegas all the way, baby. How about room service waiter, or valet. They take home some good $ and you WILL keep busy.

    JPM Derivatives Monster

It wasn't just the banks. I know in the past AIG has been active in the derivatives market and it's chart sure looks like the banks.

    Old Dog, New Tricks

I used this system for 3 yrs. Your montage allows you to choose where you route your order. There is a choice in the properties to display a box that lets you choose where to route the order. the default is nyse. BUT, even though you are enabled to receive the feed from other sources(isld,etc)...

    JPM Derivatives Monster

I think the real issue is not the massive notional principal amounts. These amounts only serve to inflame the debate as they are not themselves evidence of excessive risk. The issue in my mind is counterparty credit ratings.
