Starting a Journal on a Website

I just opened an account with servage.net - great control panel, all the works - and 330 Gigs of transfer per month. There are cheaper options, but from midsize and up this is a fantastic deal - 7.50 Eur per month. Depends on your needs, really.

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

Got an image in my head of triple screens of indicators, tracking one price chart alone :)

Hehe riskarb, I guess it is :)

If I buy 1K calls on ZYX stock, how do MMs hedge their pos?

I just added this book to my Amazon shopping cart, and it seems to focus on how you manage an options trade, rather than just how you enter them. Might be helpful for you - but remember I haven't read it myself (yet): The Option Trader Handbook By George Jabbour, Phillip Budwick...

    trading outside of US exchanges

Trading the Oslo Stock Exchange, I can say that there's plenty of volatility for everyone. There's everything from the scam Amex-like stocks doing 30% in one day, to (relatively) thick blue chips. Volume is of course not comparable, but then again the execution system is fair. Spreads are...

OK then, water under the bridge everyone :)

    What are good commission rates?

newguy1: Yes, demos are usually not very good at simulating fills properly. I suggest you check out the orderbooks of INET and ARCA online - they are free, and shows you size as well as how it moves around. If you compare it to their time and sales (INET used to have this on their site, at...

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

I apologise if I did degrade the thread, it certainly was not my intention. However, it is definitely the premise for the thread (not the threadstarter, of course) that was a strong opinion - as it questioned whether it was possible at all to succeed as a discretionary trader. I think that...

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

I'm not saying I know - if you read it closely, I'm saying that's my opinion. If someone knows, and is able to point to evidence, then that would also convince me that that's the way it is. If you know of any sources on this, please share with the rest of us. As for why I believe it, I'm like...

Can completely discretionary traders every succeed?

In my opinion the premise is flawed - many, I'd say most (above 50%), successful traders are discretionary. There are so many traders who don't hang out on internet message boards or use technical analysis and indicators. Yet, they watch price action and read news, and are successful. I'm not...

    Cramer Brings Down Merck

And you're probably one of those people that isn't taking your prescribed happy-pill three times a day? Maturity? Point? Just can't see any trace of it in that post... Hey, Tom Cruise has done his "research" as well :)

    Looking for SR Broker

Hi, I'm thinking of setting up something with SR just for fun (I'm an equity trader), and am wondering if someone could tip me off to a good broker that costs less than a dollar (plus exchange fees) per contract. Volume would probably be 2000-3000 contracts per month. TIA.

Has anybody got the new Extreme Cable yet

In October (after a month of holiday in Toscana) I'll be switching my DSL-line to ADSL2+ with 25 megabit, and upgrade my cable-link to 26 mbit - and combine it to get 51 mbit total as well as a safeguard if one provider goes down. Not bothering with the switch before my holiday.

Would You Take a 4% gain in 3 days?

I interpreted the question as a risk-free 4% trade in three days, and that's of course a "yes". This does not mean I would necessarily take my profits after 4% gain on any random trade - that is much too complex a situation to just say yes or no.

The current Civil War in Iraq and the United States reaction to it.

southamerica, I just wanted to add one thing: I disagree that continous presence in Iraq will bring the US market down - the various market instruments each have their own factors that influence them. I agree that it will destabilise the economy as a whole, and that it would be a weakening...

The current Civil War in Iraq and the United States reaction to it.

For once I agree with a sentence AAAintheBeltway. The next question is then how long the US is going to keep spending and risk their soldiers' lives before they pull out. Or, maybe they'll never pull out? As someone earlier said, the miliary industrial complex who funds the election campaigns...

    Shaolin Futures

I'm curious: Apart from bad-talking them, do you have any substance? You should at least try to explain what your problem is with that company.
