    Good Trading Book for Beginner

50 cent: .Indeed, that part is so good because it relates trading to addictions like alcoholism and gambling. It was pre-ET, so he could not treat of compulsive posting, people with 7000+ posts to their discredit. :Al

    Good Trading Book for Beginner

50 cent: .My apologies for not noticing. Oh, how I wanted the Velez to work! And the methods of the exactly 50 other trading books on my shelf I didn't burn in disgust after reading. The follies of youth!. :Al

    Good Trading Book for Beginner

All: .Another good book is the ill-titled, "The Encyclopedia of Trading Strategies" by Katz and McCormick, which is in fact one of the best system testing books available. I'll keep posting recommendations until I find one that Nitro likes, or at least hasn't read, the latter perhaps being...

    Good Trading Book for Beginner

Nitro: .All I can say is, "Why dincha?". Where are all of Nitro's books? Shelved with all of Jack Hershey's. :Al

All: .This vituperative exchange makes me wish I had recommended Alan Farley's book, instead. He would make Nitro cry. ("Make my donkey laugh. Make my donkey cry."). :Al

Nitro: .You are right. The thread you referenced is interesting. It displays the full depth and breadth of your knowledge of trading books, of trading mentors, and of character assessment based on posting content. Your fairness, balance, and lack of bias are truly noteworthy. In future I shall...

    Good Trading Book for Beginner

Nitro: .That was a cheap shot. Vadym is a public figure in this business who has been well known and respected for many years. He used the same handle for years on SI and was an honest and generous contributor there. Attacking him is like attacking a person with the integrity of an Alexander...

    Predicting Range Days

Grob109: .I took your advice and searched on "preparation" and found 25 pages with 625 references. But the only recent post by you did not address preparation in the context in which I think you meant it. Then I searched on "preparation AND comprehensive" thinking that the latter might be a...

    GLD

Well, I am long gold, too. It's hard not to be with a sock drawer full of it. I have 10% of my net worth in it, silly me. But why are YOU long? Isn't pure lust enough? Did you need all those chart squiggles to convince yourself to be long? You ever read "The Golden Constant"? The price of a loaf...

    The Subconscious mind...

Let me give you an example outside of trading. George Gershwin went to Maurice Ravel to seek lessons on composition to improve his music sales. Ravel asked Gershwin, "How much money are you making now?" When Gershwin told him, Ravel said "I should be taking lessons from YOU!"

    Ok Ok what edge

Dr. Alexander Elder said it best: "If you don't know what your edge is, you don't have one."

    GLD

So what WAS your point? The convergence you drew was a bit of a stretch, looking at GC itself. Are you suggesting anomalous behavior in GLD?

    GLD

Too much trouble. YOU know what it looks like as well as I do. The current tight channel gold is in in no way either violates the uptrend or presages a channel breakout. Nor is the decline in volume in GLD in any way reflected in the volume of GC. I'm thinking NOTHING is happening in gold. Pity.

    GLD

Your point being? That GLD tracks GC? The picture looks a little different on a longer time scale.

Precisely 86pp out of 247 are about Vadym, in which he shows himself to be Everyman. The rest is very clear setups. Obviously not a popuar book because it doesn't receive much press here. Right down there with Alan Farley's magnum opus, perhaps the least popular good book out there.

    Good Trading Book for Beginner

"Techniques of Tape Reading" by Graifer and Schumacher is one of the best recent books. The authors are real traders.
