Optimization of a trading system with avoidance of curve fitting.

fwiw- I second the use of walk forward testing. I like to have at least 50 trades in the base optimized period and 25 in the walk forward period. Jumping from a data set to trading without a test in a period outside the optimized data set is a invitation to losing your capital. Seneca

    Who Will Get GOP Nomination

In what to me is pretty shocking, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has jumped to a big lead in national polls. Gallup has Perry leading Mittens 29-17. Not so shocking is Newt's 4%; really Newt, give it up. Seneca

WTF?????? Some employers consider ending health coverage

It may be because of the tax credit included in Obamacare. See: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304879604575582642946850052.html

WTF?????? Some employers consider ending health coverage

Agree, they don't provide auto insurance, so why should they provide health insurance. Also, the biggest by far tax loophole (~$180 billion/yr) is employees receiving health insurance but not having to pay taxes on it. Seneca

WTF?????? Some employers consider ending health coverage

This should come as no surprise as health care costs escalate much faster than inflation. Consider in 2000 that 69% of all employers offered health insurance while in 2010 it is down to 60%. Simply put, employers esp. small ones want out of this costly burden and will shift it to whoever...

    Republicans reveal true nature

There is no question in my mind that we spend too much on defense. EG-certain members of congress keep production lines going when the DOD doesn't want them. "The Army's M1 Abrams tank has careened across battlefields in U.S. combat operations since 1980. But now the 75-ton, American-made...

    Republicans reveal true nature

You left out the part that shows this top 1% paid 38.02% of ALL INCOME TAXES. We should thank them, except I'm sure most spend time and money trying to lower their tax bill. http://ntu.org/tax-basics/who-pays-income-taxes.html Seneca

Do we need another dumb ass Texan for president?

Ah Carter, what fond memories: Hostages, malaise, don't use your credit cards, turn down your thermostats, MEOW, INFLATION, Depts. of Energy and Education, and more. The only good thing to come out of his Presidency was Reagan. Let's hope history repeats! Seneca

Luke, you might like this piece by the great Texas writer TR Fehrenbach: "Some Sundays back I wrote that the primary current political quarrel was about money: how much government should create, how much it may borrow, how much it should spend, and for what purpose. However, behind those...
