    tradestation is a nightmare

I dropped TS 20 years ago. Still have IB, but mostly as a glorified bank. Both platforms need a full rewrite. You can only keep dinosaurs healthy for so long. (Jurassic park methods aside ;))

    Ultimate Road Warrior Setup?

I have an MSI GE76. Size of a 15" with a 17" screen, packed in a Pelican case. 4K is available and autoroll over on the network disconnect is standard. I can recommend the UPerfect 17" 4K screens because I use the 16" 2K screens. So you can get 3X 17" at 4k. Cost would be about 4.5K.

    Trading Style Overload?

The one that is the most fun, makes the most money per time unit, most consistently with the lowest drawdown and scalable. Liquid, regulated markets only. It is Trading. Use modern scripting tools, just don't stare at charts like tea leaves in a cup.

100% winning rate of 10000 deals in 100 days

Ridiculous stuff. And for what purpose? In reply to the OP: :finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger: x 1000 = once for each trade.

Method one: Restore layout without reporting (mentioned above) Method two: Open two TWS. One with the old (which is restored) and one with the new with the messed up tab; Drag and drop the single tab you want into the TWS Layout you want. Rename the tab. Save the layout. The dinosaur...

    MultiCharts Automated trading

It is interesting, that I recently threw in the towel on full Auto Trade. Mostly because I am at least a year out on coding all the libraries to monitor the tail end of the trade. Although I see MBs issues, I assumed the API *might* be better, and assumed the MC interface is just for...

Secondary screens for Laptops: Found one

Hi All, FWIW, I bought a Chinese portable monitor. It has been a dozen years since I last had one, so I figured it was time to try again. Here are some notes: 1) USB-c power and signal all in one, so single cable. No power brick. 2) 2K seems to be the sweet spot for price. 3) This is NOT a...

How do you avoid buying at the high and selling at the low of the day?

Time of day matters. IMO there are 5 distinct periods. 1) the Open 2) AM session 3) Lunch (before and after) 4) PM Session 5) the Close Consider having an "evaluation" of tactics at the beginning and end of each period. There is no such thing a monolithic strategy that applies to all time...

Can we talk about day trading?

I think for most it is a passing fascination: 1) I can make easy money. 2) Look how easy it is to buy and sell. 3) I can make xxx PER DAY. turns into 1) This is a lot of work day in and day out. 2) Buying and selling is too easy, but when to buy and sell is not so easy. 3) I can only lose...

Day trading, significant levels, & timeframe

No. Because of the way candlestick are formed, the time frame is arbitrary relative to price action. As such, a 2.5 hour candle might be "significant" one day and not another. In general you are looking for a granularity that will show the S/R regardless of the time frame. Anything over 15...

What kind of stop loss to use?

Trade what the market shows you, not what you want to happen. All that stuff is sort of after the fact. Percent this, percent that. A % stop is best as a last ditch effort. Before that happens you should be managing the tail end of your trade, using a strategy that you have predefined...

'member when the market turned the corner in 2009....

Yeah lots of trading to be had. Strong moves = good trading. Seen-traded 87', 00', 9/11, 08, etc. The only thing to really be gleamed from all that is: Markets can be disorderly be prepared. Seriously! Get comfortable with uncertainty. Those who are not are handicapped*. Time of sales...

    Noob with Qs

Paper trading is for testing and learning the interface's limitations, brokers interactions, and exchange interactions. Making sure you can execute the orders as you want, as fast as you want, when you want, as complicated as you want. So you don't make unforced errors with a "I did not know...

It’s a Miserable Life – Trading and Depression

FWIW an Eastern Perspective: Desire can lead to suffering. If you add poisons such as greed, jealousy, anger or fear it can compound. These poisons are like air, if you create them, they come back at you. Western psychologist can describe depression as slow leaking anger. It seems...
