A Security Analyst has access to all available information, and can answer your questions to the best of his ability about what may or may not happen in the future regarding the company. Can Price Action Trading Be Automated?

As I said, I usually pick 100+ cases, depending on the difficulty of the setup, to determine the probability. But after doing this for so many years, I can often reach a decision with fewer examples. Bedtime.

Can Price Action Trading Be Automated?

Thank you. I can understand how the program would follow the rules you give it. But what I can't see is how it could judge the validity of a movement in price which is relative to other price movements, and to which the human would judge if this and that is too much or too little and that too...

Can Price Action Trading Be Automated?

No, I'm sorry but I can't. I was surprised by nonlinear5's reply above as it is opposite to the numerous explanations I've heard. But maybe he knows more than others. I can't say. I don't know how you yourself go about back testing manually that takes months and months. But I've back tested...

Can Price Action Trading Be Automated?

Sorry, based on the above I understood you to mean that you could not read the trend. But can you determine if 'that' price movement is a move in the primary trend, a reaction, a correction, a resumption of the primary trend, or the beginning of a new trend etc.? If you can, no problem. If not...

Can Price Action Trading Be Automated?

No, by no means did I mean gut feeling/intuition. I meant an educated judgement based on the analysis of a situation regarding its probability. While a program could read a move from A to B, could it judge its strength based on the price movement and volume, its strength relative to relevant...

Can Price Action Trading Be Automated?

But the fact of the matter is that the programs drew so many of the lines incorrectly that using such for screening, analysis, back testing or trading would be a disaster. And as you said, if the trend line is elementary to code, what would the results be when judgement is required in addition...

Can Price Action Trading Be Automated?

I often hear people say that price movement can be programmed for analysis. Not being able to do so myself, I can't disagree. However, the quality of examples of such that I've seen is still light years behind that which can be done manually. And given the need for analysis of context, and the...
