Mega doses of vitamin C and my 35 years of experience

No, not at all. But I guess if you started out taking a large dose, you might. So a slow buildup until you find your limit would be best.

Quant funds having a bad year in 2017. Trend-followers may not survive

How can it die? As I said above: There will always be trends in the markets as long as there are people who can't read them.

Mega doses of vitamin C and my 35 years of experience

I know that there are varied opinions and test results, recommended dosage etc. regarding vitamin C. And I don't want to debate that. This is just my experience during 35 years of taking mega doses of vitamin C, and two of my findings. 1. Up until about 35 years ago, like most people, I would...

Goes to show ya that a quant with a PhD still can't outshoot Wyatt Earp! There will always be trends in the markets as long as there are people who can't read them

A couple of months!?!? No wonder! Plan on a couple of years! But then again it's not something everyone can grasp.

If you knew then what you know now, what would you have done differently to learn to trade?

I would have focused 120% on me, myself, and I and my trading studies and would have avoided any concern as to how and what others in a different world were doing. By those in a different world I mean institutional investors/traders of all kinds. As I found out much later, through personal...

What are the general Win rate and RR of professional/Full Time traders?

I did not quote your post as my comment was not directed at you personally. Sorry if you took it that way. It's just that I've read the same question so many times that it pops up in my dreams!

What are the general Win rate and RR of professional/Full Time traders?

What are the general Win rate and RR of professional/Full Time traders? Why are retail traders always so concerned and interested in the results of hedge funds, institutional investors, market makers, Buffett, hft, quants, other retail traders etc.? They are playing a different game on the same...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

A strong foundation, a proper entry, and following the resulting trend will protect you against risk to the greatest possible extent. True, there will always be the risk of the factory burning down, earthquakes etc., but that's irrelevant.

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

The stronger the foundation, the less the risk and the greater the reward.

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

TA can't, and it's not meant to, tell you if a stock is going to drop xx% the next day. The stock was obviously in a downtrend. The first indication of a continuation of the downtrend came with the end of the 6/01 to 7/03 corrective move. Now, explaining the point of entry that you are looking...

Hypothesis: Technical Analysis only works in the immediate short-term

Yes, eyeballing often does suffice. But in situations with multiple trends, trend lines do help in maintaining focus. I don't agree with those who consider trend lines to be hard and fast support/resistance though. While bordering a trend, their true value, along with the return line that they...

Hypothesis: Technical Analysis only works in the immediate short-term

Drawing in that manner has no foundation, and is the equivalent of a 3 year old who has just discovered crayons. In your world. But for those who have taken the time and made the effort to learn the proper application of such, it is a valuable tool.

Is it possible that an edge/pattern that has worked since the beginning of time?

Ain't that the truth!! As soon as you suggest something that's not as simple as pie and requires even a little work, thinking, or study, they're off to a new thread.

Hypothesis: Technical Analysis only works in the immediate short-term

If you have a second, please see the attachment in my post #86 above. While I left out many important details, I think the basic process therein would be correct.

Hypothesis: Technical Analysis only works in the immediate short-term

No, it's basic common knowledge that's known by those who have made the effort to learn.

Hypothesis: Technical Analysis only works in the immediate short-term

You seem to be too far gone to be convinced otherwise. But for those who would like to hear the other side of the story, there are some basic rules for drawing trend lines correctly as I posted years ago in another thread. Your statement "TLs can be drawn any old how" is most likely the cause of...
