    Article discussing US Oil Reserves

June 12, 2008 Sitting on an Ocean of Energy, Doing Nothing By Daniel Henninger Charles de Gaulle once wrote off the nation of Brazil in six words: "Brazil is not a serious country." How much time is left before someone says the same of the United States? One thing Brazil and the U.S...

    What Bush-II wants....

Some Fed bosses do what they believe is right without regard to what others want them to do. Volcker for example. Other Fed bosses base all or part of their policies on what Wall Street or the Federal government want them to do. Greenspan for example. We have yet to see which camp...

    What Bush-II wants....

The president has influence over the fed. One of the reasons the fed kept rates low was to make the president happy.

That pretty much sums it up.

    What Bush-II wants....

I love it when people say "the increases are justified because of increases in demand". Commodity prices may have doubled, tripled or whatever in the last year or two, but the world's population certainly hasn't.

    What Bush-II wants....

Exactly. Bush has a direct role in interest rates being low. He has spent way too much money and increased the debt way too much. Simple way to deal with this is for Bush to pressure the Fed to keep interest rates low so national debt payments are lower. People that blame the Fed for...

    What Bush-II wants....

The drop in the dollar is largely a result of the war in Iraq and all of the borrowing / dollar printing it has necessitated. Did Bush do that? Check. The increase in oil is largely a result of "geopolitical tensions" (i.e. the Iraq war and threats to go to war against Iran) and the...

    What Bush-II wants....

As a general policy I do not waste my time educating people like you that obviously cannot be educated, but I will point out that oil traded in the teens in late 2001.

    What Bush-II wants....

The three things Bush will be remembered for is: * increasing the price of oil by 10 times * bankrupting the country with an illegal war and * making the dollar worthless. That is pretty much all he has accomplished. Ralph Nader should be hung now.

So when are we going to stop allowing casinos to determine the price of gas and food?

At some point the oil producers are going to get worried about the speculators triggering massive investment in alternative energy. Then they will actively seek to have the price of oil lowered. I think we have reached that point.

So when are we going to stop allowing casinos to determine the price of gas and food?

UAE oil minister says price spikes "crazy" Tue Jun 10, 2008 1:38pm EDT By Scott Haggett - Analysis CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) - Recent huge spikes in oil prices are "crazy" and unrelated to supply and demand fundamentals as world markets are adequately supplied with crude, the United...

So when are we going to stop allowing casinos to determine the price of gas and food?

OPEC chief appeals for calm over oil Tue Jun 10, 2008 8:20am EDT LONDON (Reuters) - OPEC Secretary General Abdullah al-Badri on Tuesday appealed for calm, saying the record-high oil price was unbearable and did not reflect any shortage of supply in the market. "The situation is unbearable...

Spain is in a deep, deep recession

Three years from now the only countries using the Euro will be Germany, France, and a couple other ignorant wannabes. The Euro will be on par with the dollar. England will be looking very smart for not getting involved in the Euro nonesense. Italy, Spain, and Ireland will have left the Euro...

Spain is in a deep, deep recession

I say everyone should boycott Europe until they get rid of the Euro. Spend the next several years vacationing in places like Asia, Latin America, Australia etc and let Europe's economy tank. Then once the Euro is history and a massive devaluation has occurred we will go back to Europe again.

So when are we going to stop allowing casinos to determine the price of gas and food?

How interesting! Consumers and producers are invited to the meeting but not speculators! Oh and by the way, I think the Saudis know more about oil fundamentals than you or I! http://bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aN1J5J7AqP5U&refer=home Oil Falls as Saudi Arabia Calls for...

So when are we going to stop allowing casinos to determine the price of gas and food?

I agree 1,000,000,000% No one is going to starve because of a bubble or manipulation in a penny stock. There are people in third world countries that are literally going die because of what the commodities speculators are doing. Again, there is no longer any relationship between the...

So when are we going to stop allowing casinos to determine the price of gas and food?

I think people should take a broader world view than just their own personal trading profits.

So when are we going to stop allowing casinos to determine the price of gas and food?

The speculators are not right. There are just so many more of them and they all want to be long. There is no relationship whatsoever between the actual economic value of oil and what happens at NYMEX and ICE. People that think there is are fools. Current moves have nothing to do with...
