I noticed all the Nov and Dec weekly options are out already. Normally, next week's weeklys don't come out until the Thurs before. Is this something new or just for the holiday season?
I want to trade the weekly options by opening the trade at the beginning of the week and close it on Friday. The strike will be on the unrealistic side say 5-10% above the underlying with 3-4 days until expiration. I want to bet that the underlying won't go up fast enough to hit the strike...
Is there any strategy with the following characteristics if I want to bet that the underlying will not hit the strike before expiration?
-Capped risk
-Decent risk/reward
-Margin for error
Thanks!
Does it mean all options will decrease by 1 day or 2 days worth of theta if the market reopens on Tue or Wed respectively?
How would that work out for the weeklys if the market stays closed for the entire week from an extraordinary event like this? Does it mean they'll all expire worthless?
I'm long the stock and sitting on a paper loss. I'm still bullish on it and think it'll recover in a couple of months. What's the best way to trade options around the position to generate income without adding too much risk? Keep selling weekly DOTM CCs? Thanks!
Long AAPL Nov 640 Call just before the GOOG snafu today and down about 10% at the moment. I expected it will go ITM before earnings when I put on the trade.
If a front month long call with 30 days till expiration moves against you and you are concerned about further downside in the next couple of days, is it a valid hedge by turning it into a call spread (next strike up) and keep trading the short leg?
Why OTM call won't go worthless on expiration Friday near close? I tried to scalp time premium on AAPL Oct 12 630 Call (sell to open for $0.35 at 15:33 ET) and expected it to go near worthless at close. The stock traded under 630 but the option was still trading near my entry point at close...
AAPL will go ex-dividend this Thurs and I have an open position in the 630 weekly CC. I think it'll move close to 630 by Wed. Do you think it'll get assigned if the call is OTM on Wed so the call buyer will get the dividend? Thanks!
I do position trading and want to monitor my positions when I'm away from my desk. What's the best mobile device for this? Would you recommend the iPhone, iPad, Android or Blackberry? Thanks!
When you need to get a mortgage from a bank, rent a house from a landlord, etc? They need to see proof of income and a steady job. What if you just had a down year or two?
My account just got hit with a DT margin call for exceeding my purchasing power and will go from 4x to 1x for 90 days. How do you keep track of your purchasing power during trading because every time you close a position, the purchasing power will immediately go back up giving you the illusion...
