Whats going on at IDEALPRO ????

A lot of it will depend on how fast IdealPro executes a market order... and how long the market stays at one price. My guess is that under normal conditions, the limits will get filled at the appro prices.. but in fast moving markets, I assume that the MM will play games and not fill market...

Whats going on at IDEALPRO ????

Joerg, sounds like you are someone I want to talk to.. how do your stops get filled? I found that I get a lot of slippage with stops (even when the market is moving slow) and am considering sending limit orders at market (automated) when a trigger price is reached. since you have experience...

    not Bright Trading

Thanks Don, Your firm sounds good for equities, but many of our strategies are based on FX (futures and spot). These include cross rates and at higher time resolutions. I did not know you offered e-mini's. What would you need to do to offer these other products to traders or to get access...

    not Bright Trading

Don's point makes sense to me. There is a lot of fraud out there and registering is one way to walk the line.

Here's my strategy: RSI and ema crossover, need help!!!

a year is not really that far back in time. If you trade it, one method is to stop trading once in real time it hits an all time low in the equity curve (max draw down).

    Slippage & Stops & IdealPro

I found this in IB's website: "Buy Simulated Stop Orders become market orders when the last traded price is greater than or equal to the stop price." So if volume is thin on IdealPro (few or no trades take place), could a stop never be triggered even though the market passes waaaaay beyond it?

Yes or No:"Fully hedged portfolios are not risk free"?

Are talking about diversification or hedging? You can hedge a long gold position by selling a gold futures contract = no risk (less cost of carry) T bonds.. bunds.. etc.. all the same

Yes or No:"Fully hedged portfolios are not risk free"?

Good point.. if you are talking about buying an option to hedge a position. My thoughts were along the lines of using futures contracts to offset the risk of holding the underlying or vice versa. Here, the only risk is the cost of carry, which can be likened to an option premium, but unlike...

    Slippage & Stops & IdealPro

I've been building a database off of IdealPro's API and today had a buy stop get filled with 3 pips of slippage (on GBPUSD). I looked at the database and found that the inside ask hit my trigger price five times before my order was filled on the sixth and almost 5 and 1/2 seconds after the...

Yes or No:"Fully hedged portfolios are not risk free"?

By defenition, a fully hedged portfolio is risk free and also return free as well. (no risk - no reward). What some of these posts refer to are diversification strategies or even partial hedging.

    North Korea's Nuclear Weapons

I was thinking about this... I wonder if it would be prudent to showcase our technology in this way. It would be cool it this is in fact what happened. Too bad we don't have any video of the missile as it failed. From my experience, when missiles fail... what they are really saying is - they...

    online dating

Yes, I use one. I go straight for the phone or an in person meeting as soon as I can. You can get to know someone's personality so much faster/better via an actual conversation than by many emails.

What are the N. Korean's doing?

Really? What do they want? Will they invade Tokyo? S. Korea? China? I just don't think so. If they are not out for territorial gains then what policies are they trying to change?

    How'd Everyone Do This Month?

About 12% in my discretionary account. I was following the commercials in GBP/USD. Don't ask me how my 'other' accounts did :) And don't ask me again on August 1 :)
