    just starting, need advice.

When I first read your opening post I had to laugh........ then I read it again I REALLY laughed. :) Seriously though, until YOU trade in real time you have no idea what your'e talking about. I don't mean to sound flippant or rude. There are litterally thousands of people in the markets...

    Position trading technique

You don't say what you trade, but if your trading somehting related to an index or a stock that correlates with the overall market, you may want to watch the TICKS. After the trend is established, watch for pullbacks and note where the TICK is when the trend resumes. For instance, say you get...

    Murray Ruggiero

He is probably one of the best at designing systems. In the past he's written a bunch of stuff in Futures Magazine. He has published "Cybernetic Trading". I'm not a systems trader, but I've gotten some good ideas from his articles. He works at Ruggiero Associates in East Haven, Conn. The...

    VIX??????

Recently on this board and others I frequent, there seems to be a concensus that the current low VIX readings will lead to a sell off. I have VIX data going back to 1986 (TC2000). I exported this data to Metastock and then overlaid the S&P 500 Index. One clear pattern that emerges is that...

    Other Investment Forums

With all the changes going on I was wondering if there are any other boards similar to Elitetrader. I know about SI. Are there any other good sites where you can freely discuss trading. I hope Baron doesn't delete or censor this thread. I'm not looking to find a replacement for ET, just...

Hitman, This quote if from "Market Wizards". Its from the interview with Marty Schwartz. "...If you're ever very nervous about a position overnight, and especially over a weekend, and you're able to get out at a much better price than you thought possible when the market trades, you're...

    Recommend a way to scan???

I've been using TC2000 for years. I've been able translate all types of ideas (i.e. Jeff Cooper, Hit & Run Trading, Tony Oz) as well as my own like, stocks down hard on volume (looking for the bounce) 3 day pull backs, most active with increasing volume, contracting range and volume etc....I...

    Beating Buy and Hold

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it appears to be viable. Jay Kaeppel has published 2 or 3 articles on trading Fidelity Sector Funds in the magazine "Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities". The results look impressive. You may be able to adapt to ETF's, or HLDRS, or...

    Tradeing the ES (On Topic)

Jboy, Thanks for this thread. I've traded e-minis on a limited basis with so-so results. There seems to be more "noise" than with most stocks. I think this may reflect stop running, or the different motivation of player (i.e. hedging etc...). Your results are impressive, could you please...

    Equity Trading... the Broker

I had an account with ET a few years ago. They were always responsive. I would rate them one of the better brokers out there. The only reason I moved the account is because I wasn't able to trade much during the day and the fees were a little high. I just opened an account with IB as I'm more...

    Trading Journal, January

ProTrader, Why don't you stick it where the sun don't shine. This kid has more balls than you ever will. If you're such a great trader, or you think you can do better than stockk, then post away. You're like most "traders" I meet, all talk and no action.

What are good results for daytrading

You're putting the cart before the horse IMHO. You need to TRADE inorder to see all the little quirks, like partial fills, slippage, no fills etc...As fas as a base line to measure performance, you need to look at the risk as well as the reward. You will only be able to get a handle on this...
