What to look for before a potential breakout?

I took six months before it even started to "click" for me and I think that is probably why a lot of people dismiss the DOM as a trading tool. What product are you trading? Stocks are likely more difficult than futures as far as depth of market is concerned. I KNOW that the built in time and...

What to look for before a potential breakout?

In my opinion the DOM and Tape are still very useful provided you invest enough time learning. A lot of people dismiss the DOM because someone told them there are games being played by large traders. I use Jigsaw trading tools and the games are pretty obvious to me. The thing is people decide to...

Another day trader bites the dust

Fine. Call it "stupid thinking" if it makes you feel better.  Do you honestly think the only use of the DOM is to see how many contracts there are (might) be? I use the DOM looking at these three things. 1) Is the book firming up following a move? 2) Are limit traders pulling...

CPU power required for discretionary trading?

It would be pretty easy to find out if it works; test it. I doubt you will have any problems. I doubt you will find anyone here that 1) Has the exact same CPU. 2) is doing what you are doing with it. Sounds to me you are just looking for an excuse to upgrade. You have my permission.

Another day trader bites the dust

Most traders aren't flipping a coin. My take on your link is that the material presented is a marketing effort by "Price Action labs" to sell their 897.50+ dollar per year trading system. It is a pattern recognition program but they claim it is "price action trading". In an effort to sell their...

Original SSDs Beginning 7th Year of Running In Trading Rigs

I just installed a Crucial MX200 1TB Solid State Drive and I love it. Computer boots in less than a minute when it used to take 3 to 4 minutes.

I am pleased with my results so far. Why does it matter to you?

Another day trader bites the dust

With my trading it is true I think short term. It is true I see the market from a short term perspective. The "short term memory" thing is B.S. Why would I pretend to know what the market is going to do long term? Why would I care what the long term outlook is? I am looking to get 10 to 20...

What to look for before a potential breakout?

I'm am talking about liquidity vacuum. Say the market orders are hitting the offers and moving up. You want to see the (limit) bids firm up behind the move (aka limit traders adding limit buy orders close to the inside bid). Looking at the book below on the buy side the book is "firm". Had the...

What to look for before a potential breakout?

Orderflow is something I look at. What is happening on the Depth of market and tape? Are limit order traders absorbing the market orders or they pulling their limit orders? Are big traders hitting the market? Are the market order traders seeing results? Are they moving through price levels...

Serious case of Schadenfreude. I'm glad I don't have any "friends" like this guy.

What kind of Edge you have?

Staring at the dom would get old quick. I have Jigsaw trading's DOM and it will show you what is being pulled and if there is being size added. Too early for me. I am up at 3am cst to trade.

What kind of Edge you have?

It seems to suit me. I only trade for a couple of hours a day and take frequent breaks. The time spent learning was brutal though.

What kind of Edge you have?

None of the above. I read the tape and DOM. I try to scalp for 10 ticks on the 6e. It is a really simple way to trade.

How do human scalpers compete with machines today?

I am not too familiar with equity trading so maybe it doesn't work for that type of product but it works for futures. The problem is most people won't put in the time required to learn it. I spent the better part of a year just watching the tape and the DOM in replay. I have been trading live...

Dang, I'm A Great Paper Trader

My guess is that you are risking too much. I am trading futures but only trade one contract with money I don't care about. Take the fear out of your game.

How do human scalpers compete with machines today?

Why are you trading off charts? Do you use the tape? The depth of market? I only use two charts in my trading. A footprint to record where trades went off and a 70 tick chart for market structure. I am also using a volume profile on the tick chart. I make 100% of my trading decisions off the tape.

    Short-term trading tax question

Uh oh........ You are entitled to waste some time trying to use math to "solve" the market problem. If that stuff worked why do 90% of traders fail? I would like to save you a little time searching for the holy grail. http://www.jigsawtrading.com/surviving-day-trading-free-ebook/ I am not...
