    Opening Orders - 2008

12 short (most on small positions), 5 wins, 6 losses, +1093, 11300 shares. Seems like there were quite a few gap and go moves that would have required holding through some pain.

    Opening Orders - 2008

Scratched today, a long and a short, -43, 3500 shares. Had 3 other fills on baby sized positions but I won't bore anyone any longer with those. We did get 20 inches of snow over the weekend though, an alltime record for central Ohio, so that's exciting.

Only one fill on a test position, so a scratch day. A bit disappointing to say the least.

    Opening Orders - 2008

I intimidated every buyer and seller with my opening orders, so I must go to other flea markets to peddle my wares today.

    Opening Orders - 2008

4 long (3W 1L), 2 short (1W 1L), +284, 3400 shares Again most of my fills on stocks I'm testing on small size.

No fills. I wasn't as agressive as I should have been.

    Opening Orders - 2008

3 long, 1W 2L, 1 short win, +123, 2800 shares 3 of the fills were on small size. Gotta feel we're due for a rally in this market. The Money & Investing section in today's journal looked like it wanted to cry...

Ug. Unfortunately my wins today came on small positions and I was a bit too patient with the losers. 5 long, 2 wins 3 losses, -948, 3300 shares On a three week slump with this strategy. Maybe March will bring better results.

    Opening Orders - 2008

No fills today for me. Pretty sleepy week.

I'm not familiar with OpenTick, but check time and sales filtered for NYSE if you can do it. The opening print will be obvious (a big honking size print around 9:30). I've never paid any attention to premarket trading unless I'm trying to get a feel for whether a particular news item is...

    Opening Orders - 2008

5 short, 2 long, all but two were trial positions and those two were a small loss and a scratch. -140, 6500 shares

    Opening Orders - 2008

5 long fills, all but one a small test position but the full size fill was a nice win, 2 wins 3 losses, +506, 1900 shares Two blah weeks in a row for me. I enjoyed the narrative, Don. Personal stories add some color to this thread. Try not to trade from the cruise ship on your anniversary...

    Boone Pickens for President!

The reason we don't get intelligent strong corporate leaders running for president is due to the nature of politics. When you are CEO, you dictate everything, and everyone has to fall in line. When you are an elected official (e.g. president), no one does what you say. Unless you spend a...

    Opening Orders - 2008

My daughter was born 7-6-05. At 4:32:01. (Ok - the time part is BS but the date makes it real easy to remember) So Don are you saying you're on wife #3? Typical trader cutting his losses and riding his winner (sorry-- that sounds a little dirty :D). Scratch today on 4100 shares.

To answer your question, yes, deduct the dividend from the closing price, but make sure that your data feed has not already done this for you. This site shows you the day's exDivs: http://www.fulldisclosure.com/dividend.asp?date=20080221&client=cb You can also do a search by entering...

Couldn't get anything to work today. 4 longs, most on small size, 1 win 3 losses, -305, 3200 shares

    Opening Orders - 2008

4 short wins, unfortunately all on less than full positions, +232, 1300 shares

    Opening Orders - 2008

I recommend putting in more than one stock, even just starting out, otherwise you'll find you won't get many (any) fills. Keep the share size small, as you're doing, but try to put in a list of at least 5 - 10 stocks. Welcome aboard and good luck. Shut out today, only filled on a test...

    Opening Orders - 2008

It's probably not that different. I get around 10% fills going anywhere from .2 to .8 on the envelope.
