are there any CANSLIM traders here?

A base in general terms is just a correction period following a stock making a new high (there are exceptions, such as a bottoming base, formed after a prolonged downtrend, but even that will have a relative high serving as a pivot point). When counting bases, the stock must run up at least...

It's based on studies of leading stocks over the past 50 years. 3rd stage bases and beyond have a higher probability of failure than 1st or 2nd stage bases. The whole strategy and reasoning behind it is laid out in "How to Make Money in Stocks" by O'Neil.

Oh no, mschey getting discouraged on OPG is not a good sign. Who's next? Lescor? It has been a struggle this year, but there hasn't been a lot of enthusiasm for the US markets outside of the early part of the first quarter, and even that was tempered.

The strategy has nothing to do with Elliott Wave. Late stage bases means the stock is more likely to be known by most everyone, leaving fewer buyers to drive the price up.

are there any CANSLIM traders here?

I'm assuming you are referring to a stock that has run up that much and then formed a base. As long as it is an early stage base (1st or 2nd stage), it is not too late to buy if it meets all the CANSLIM criteria, has formed a sound base, and breaks out on strong volume. However you should be...

Don's Openings and More for 2006

That's what I'll be saying later this afternoon. No fills today. Haven't seen the premarket eMini whip around like that in a while...more hand wringing on the economy - "Whew, it's not too hot! Oh wait, crap! It might be too cold!" Enjoy the weekend, all.

Don's Openings and More for 2006

Both opened a penny above the prior close, so it makes sense now that I didn't get filled. I didn't look at the price closely enough until I read your post, I just noted that they opened up and through my offer. I feel less irritated now, thanks Shreddog.

In both cases they traded through my short order with the opening print. I know that shorts are the lowest priority, but I should have been filled if I offered a better price than the opening print. The order was in prior to 9:28, so that wasn't an issue.

Don's Openings and More for 2006

4 long fills, 3 wins and a loss, +344. Too much patience on TXN cost me $300. Also, got pimped on two short orders that were not filled - UPS sell at 82.91, stock opened at 82.94 GPS sell at 17.23, stock opened at 17.25 In both cases I was told the proverbial "stock ahead". I could...

Trading the June 29th FOMC meeting

I doubt there will be any "surprise". The Fed bends over backwards not to surprise the market intentionally. All the comments by the governors leading up to the meeting are designed to set expectations. I'm looking for a .25 hike and the same statement that "more may be needed". They'd prefer...
