Does the Dow Jones news feed suck?

What time did this headline come out on a Bloomberg? Just curious how much faster they were. Do you find that DJ is usually faster than Bloomberg? I am happy with Reuters because it is relatively inexpensive and I don't trade the news but am always curious what other platforms are doing as a...

Does the Dow Jones news feed suck?

Reuters North American newsfeed had the headline at 1:18:30pm. I don't know how good that is compared to when the news broke but at least gives you a comparison. You might consider supplementing DJnewswires. Reuters is pretty affordable compared to DJnewswires.

    Another WSJ Executive Resigning

Yeah, I laughed when he made that pledge. I knew it would be only a matter of time before they started mucking with it. I hope I am wrong but doesn't look good so far.

    Another WSJ Executive Resigning

I think you are going to be disappointed. WSJ will ultimately go the way of Fox News. Give it time. I canceled my WSJ.com subscription once Murdoch bought it. Why not read it for free online instead? http://machinist.salon.com/blog/2008/03/21/wsj/

Boone Pickens Adopts Long Position on Oil

At least Boone realized the market is always right and crude is still a bull. He is probably playing both sides of it but I am wondering why he keeps telegraphing his positions so much recently. Seems like he may be getting too prideful about his recent short crude call and wants to be seen as...

Maximum ES contracts you would trade with $3,800 account

How do you know they did for sure? Did they post the brokerage statements as confirmation? Were they trying to sell a system also? Hmm. I'm not saying it is not possible but you need to understand this game is about probabilities not possibilities. I would agree with others that 1 ES...

    US treasuries downgraded to Baa.

My thought exactly before I clicked on the thread. I was actually expecting to see a link that it was true. Sad...

    The Dennis Gartman Letter

I tried a trial subscription. They will give you a few weeks free if you want to check it out first. I thought it was informative but in the end not worth the price for me to keep it.

    Life is better in Monsanto

Weird, I read an article this morning about Monsanto and their shady practices and genetic engineering bullshit and here comes stock_trad3r pumping their stock. I guess selling mutated vegetable seeds is a good business. Seems they also keep private investigators busy in the Midwest...

    Problems with IB

Just out of curiosity, has anyone noticed an intermittent problem in TWS when you right-click on a row and bring up the pop-up menu you can't see any sub-menus properly. Example: right-click on a row, move cursor to Trade and pop-up menu goes away. Basically, when this happens you...

    Bittergate rally?

Supporters like Paul Tudor Jones and Kenneth Griffin? There are a lot of Wall Streeters that are supporting Obama for one reason or another. I agree with some things about his platform and disagree with others. I agree that his voting record, especially on taxes is too left for me. I refuse to...

    Bittergate rally?

Well, you got the facts completely wrong on this one. The flag in question was hung in a volunteers office in Houston, TX. Obama had nothing to do with it and the office was not even part of his official campaign. I don't have an opinion either way but at least come up with some factual...

    Trader w/ a felony coviction

chill dude, I didn't attack you. I asked you an honest question and honestly hope you get your situation straightened out. I was more annoyed that you were blasting your message out to 4 different threads. work on that anger problem. g/l

    Trader w/ a felony coviction

I seem to remember you asking this question several weeks ago. Didn't you get several responses then? Even still, why did you post the same exact question in multiple threads? Kinda like shouting isn't it? As far as your question goes, why don't you just day trade at home or something? No...

    IB Secure Device

Nope, not from what I've seen. I got mine via USPS regular mail. Maybe they downgraded their delivery service when it went free for everyone.

IB daily statement not downloadable before February ???

The monthly statements for January and February should have all of the detail you need. The daily trade confirmation reports go back much further for daily trade detail so you can use those in addition to the monthly statements.

Volcker Rips Bernanke A New A**hole

Will Paul Volcker rescue us again? That would be a welcome change and I think he would have a lot of support to come in after Bernanke's failed first term. I am pretty sure that if the next President is a Democrat, Ben's days will be numbered. I for one would say we could do much worse than...

ES, CL "market" or "limit" orders to enter position?

I'm pretty sure you've asked this question before on a previous thread but I'll play along anyway. I'm bored. Do you use market or limit orders to enter a position? Yes I use market orders in a fast market or when I do not have a specific price in mind to buy/sell at when I am first...

    Carbon Credit Offsets for Individuals??

Good post. Exactly my thoughts as well. I would rather we be wrong about global warming and have done something about it than not do anything and be living in a dust bowl. I'm surprised that more traders do not see the logical "hedge" here and instead focus on the politics of the day. The Earth...
