better come up with some more reasons... FAST. took two days to plug that gap. Yeah, oil is a bull.

    MBIA to lose AAA

Funny that you ask what it is. If you cannot recognize what is in the screenshot from TWS maybe you should start reserving future criticisms until you learn. I would reckon that he is short the ER2 as a hedge against his long positions. His open net P/L is about what the average American makes...

    Is Firefox browser any good.

The one problem I've noticed with Firefox is it seems to have a persistent memory leak. It regularly consumes over 300MB+ even with only one window open. I like firefox but I have noticed performance problems playing streaming videos too that could be related to the memory issue.

confirmed heavily? is that a technical term?? just close your short and wait for a re-entry. you made a good trade but quit cheerleading. Markets move up and down and never say never with any market.

End NASA, silly Mars stuff and all US space programs = Solves US Economy problems

Wow. Where to start with this statement...Well, not enough time in the day at this point. That's your opinion and you are entitled. All I can say is look at the state of the Republican party now and how they've been doing in congressional elections and that pretty much sums up how Bush did as...

Don't forget about Tang and that freeze dried ice cream. Tempur pedic technology too.

End NASA, silly Mars stuff and all US space programs = Solves US Economy problems

Well, just to play devil's advocate, NASA's crowning achievement was 40 years ago... kinda says a lot in itself. It has been a diminishing return on investment ever since. We have gotten some benefit from NASA don't get me wrong but they do waste a lot of money also (just like the rest of govt)...

End NASA, silly Mars stuff and all US space programs = Solves US Economy problems

Above quote is quite possibly the most idiotic statement ever on ET? I know, there are many to choose from but this has to be up there. What planet do you live on anyway? Invert your statement on Iraq and it would start to match reality. Are people really this confused on Iraq.. STILL?

Carl Ichan is a Senile Penile

Don't forget, Icahn originally backed Rudy for president. Very bad decision. He has not shown the best political judgment. Maybe he should stick to what he knows and stay out of politics. Also, besides Griffin and Soros, Obama has been backed by Paul Tudor Jones and Warren Buffett. They too...

Does Opening a New Credit Card Ding Your Credit Score?

It probably wouldn't make too much of a difference. If you have several cards already it would probably hit your score a little. However, there is actually a negative factor of not having enough credit accounts so with one card you might be in that category depending on what else you have open...

Good news Abby Cohen says SP 1500

Whew, I was worried we were slipping into another downturn. Hasn't she been bullish for the last decade or so? Seriously, she is the worst. I scrambled for the mute button as soon as I heard she was about to speak. She is just a paid shill and perma-bull.

Oil crisis simple solution - outlaw margin trading of commodities - why not?

Oil and commodities are a global market. What you suggest would do nothing but send the trade to other countries. It amazes me that someone who calls themselves a trader would call for outlawing trading. I guess if we followed your logic we should have outlawed margin on stocks back in the late...

Oil crisis simple solution - outlaw margin trading of commodities - why not?

What better way to hedge higher energy costs than the ability to buy crude futures? The money you would have made just today buying crude futures would pay for a year's worth of gas. You are a trader no? Raising margins to some ridiculous level will only shut out small traders and investors...

anyone else not getting ICE/IPE Brent Crude Data feed today mond. may 19th?

Check July. You are probably looking at the June contract which is expired.

how bad did you get hurt by ICE today..will you trade on ICE tomorrow?

WTF. You guys have posted the same two messages on three different threads now. We get it. ICE went down. It was bad, shit happens. There are other exchanges that you can hedge with when outages occur. Do you rely on only one broker when you trade too?

    Ice down

So much for that decision. Something does not add up here. I'm surprised that ICE does not have a hot backup site that would kick in immediately after they lost the main center. Seems they need to go back to disaster recovery training.

Was there any news that sparked the sell-off in Crude ?

I know. The margin increases are in the proposed energy bill yet to get voted on, not the Enron loophole. I was making a comment on the climate in D.C... particularly trying to blame high crude and gasoline prices on traders.

Was there any news that sparked the sell-off in Crude ?

As long as they call it the "Enron loophole" it will have a negative connotation and will probably get closed down. They should re-introduce it as the "Electronic Market Freedom Act of 2008" and maybe they can re-open the loophole later on (kinda like they did with the "Patriot" Act)...

Was there any news that sparked the sell-off in Crude ?

I have no idea... but it makes for a fantastic trading day. Maybe the clowns in congress talking about raising crude margins to 100%? I seriously doubt that type of bone-headed legislation would ever pass but don't put anything past the clowns in D.C.

    Ice down

Not in this case. ICE is an all electronic so the only pit trading is in options. However, since there is no longer any pit trading in the underlying futures contracts the option pits are also closed as long as the electronic platform is down.
