    90% Profitable Setup

as somebody who trades YM for a living, and manages a fair amount of OPM... i took a look at puretick, to see if the negative slags were justified. as far as i can see, they use basic and robust methodology. that's good. i've never been in their chat room, but that is the impression...

    Staying Long anyone?

my investment accounts are 35% long stocks, 10% long commodities, and also have a 5% short position so, i guess that's net 30% long with 50% cash my swing accounts are 80% long , with tight stops in place and my daytrading futures account is 100% cash, as it almost always is upon close...

    Logical stop-loss for er2

if it's obvious where they are gunning for the stops, then why wouldn't you ENTER there, instead of entering elsewhere and getting stopped out. that's a big part of successful trading - taking the opposite side of the losertrader (tm)

Technicals indicators don't work for day trading?

the statement regarding the 70% thing does not logically follow first of all, you cannot quantify the % of time TA "works" unless you are privy to data on all traders results using TA second of all, even if TA didn't 'work' 70% of the time (you get stopped out), it does not mean you would...

Effect of daily VOLUME on YM behaviour..

i would prefer not to (bartleby...) since that is a substantial aspect of my trading edge. but to give general hints, look at what the institutions are doing. look at what retail is doing. look at what locals are doing.

    Why doesn't everyone auto trade

the myopia is typical no form of trading is across the board "superior" to another auto traders make money, discretionary traders make money. i personally don't auto trade because i get better returns discretionary trading AND i enjoy it. i also discretionary trade client accounts...

Scottrade Elite? Or stick with QuoteTracker?

i've heard mixed reviews about scottrade elite, but generally speaking they were only mildly happy with it at best. i've used quotetracker for a long time, and i use it for all sorts of stuff, i manage OPM as well as my own, and do almost all of my charting with it. i see no reason to...

    quick ? about trading futures

his fallacy is inferring causation from correlation he saw that the price rose X points on Y contracts and INFERRED that it was those orders that CAUSED the rise clearly, this is a logical fallacy just because the price moved concomitantly with that amount of contracts does not imply...

    S&P volatility gone ?

this narrow range in the dow exceeds any narrow range before it after 1926 iow, it's the least volatile multiday stretch in 80 years volatility is cyclical. hint hint hint

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

you are right (there is no ONE right way) buy1sell2 has become simply a troll.

Effect of daily VOLUME on YM behaviour..

also, your point about means reversion is spot on frankly, this is a big reason why so many traders suck is that they are still playing the 90's trading model, even though the market has morphed to a means reversion model MOST days, a means reversion method is optimal for the YM (most of...

Effect of daily VOLUME on YM behaviour..

lower volume days mean that (generally speaking), locals are in control vs. paper this DOES affect the way the market moves. sometimes, locals will do what one trader refers to as "guppy line" moves, where they will just continually whipsaw around a key reference level to try to stop as many...

Why do you Like Tradestation Program and Brokerage

people who use tradestation charting (or have in the past) are almost universally in agreement that it is the best. tradestation as a BROKERAGE on the other hand is apparently not that great, based on what i hear. i personally chart with quotetracker and use IB for data.

    Anybody own a house?

I own two houses. I am putting one on the market at the end of this month. I strongly believe in diversification of assets - real estate, commodities, collectables, cash, etc.

Oil is going to $70+ per barrel

the linkage is not broken. but you have no historical perspective or understanding please chart oil for 50 years. it is POSITIVELY correlated with equities, NOT negatively the negative correlation was (is) a RECENT phenomenon this is part of the reason why so many traders are...

    YM getting thin

Ym favors a means reversion strategy. ER2 favors a breakout/trend following strategy thus, traders who favor one strategy over the other find one or the other more appealing

    Staying Long anyone?

unless, you are playing seriously thin penny stocks, you are deluded if you think a brokerage house is moving a stock so they can take out your puny stops

    90% Profitable Setup

it is a ridiculous assumption to assume that spectra's setup involved MARKET order entries fwiw, i trade the dow almost exclusively, and for a living, and the vast majority of my setups use limit order entries why make that assumption?
