    Been Thinking about shorting EUR/USD--Opinion?

I think the dollar's NEAR a bottom, but not there yet. If you just want to swing trade it, follow the charts, but if you are position trading it, I'd wait until after the upcoming Fed meeting at the end of the month. Talk of 50 bp cut to try and stave off recession.

Salut Capital = Velez Capital Management = HLV Capital

I got a pm this evening from a poster named pro0101 trying to solicit my business to come join his firm "Salut Capital", which, quite frankly, is a jackass way of trying to dredge up some business. Well, I am sure that there have been quite a few others here, particularly the newbies asking...

What is a good offer for a new trader??

Why not tell us what they offered you so that we could tell you whether or not it was a good deal? There is more to an offer than just commissions.

When will NYC real estate start to crack?

All I'm saying is that when the foreigners become large buyers of US assets, that usually indicates a top has been hit.

When will NYC real estate start to crack?

The main buyers of NYC condos of late, according to reports, are foreigners. With exchange rates as they are, they think it is a good buy. Wait until the dollar turns and prices start to drop and these new buyers will be hit with a double whammy!

    Do you listen to CNBC?

I switch back and forth from CNBC to CNBC World to Bloomberg depending on who is on the screen. If Cramer is there, well, switch it. If that CBS reject chick is there (forget her name right now, but it is annoying listening to her shrill voice and how she has to talk over everyone like she's...

Is it difficult to get accepted for a remote prop firm?

10/500 shares = $.02/share (round trip) 16/1000 shares = $ .016/share (round trip) Props charge you anywhere from .003 - .007/share per side (some more, some less, but this is a general range) Plus with retail, you get 4-1 leverage whereas in prop, they give you (on average) 20-1.

    Oanda disconnects

Since I posted my response, I put up a practice account to compare, and sure enough there was a disconnect the past few minutes, but the live account was not interrupted.

    Commission Charges

If you do volume, anything is negotiable, whether remote or in the office. Check your monthly volume and see whether or not you are ready to push the issue and negotiate a better deal. (As a reference, unless yu are doing 500k to 1MM, you don't have much of a bargaining position to deal from.)

    Oanda disconnects

On the game there are frequent disconnects of late because they are trying to add some improvements to the trading platform and they'd rather screw up on the demo than on the live, production system. (Unlike another ubiquitous trading firm that seems to out out new versions of its platform...

    IB TWS at vpsland

How about another view of VPS Land? I checked out the company after SideShowbob mentioning them. Hey, 768 meg memory for the price of starter VPS (with guaranteed 128 meg, but burstable) memory from 1and1 - 29.00. Signed up with them Yesterday morning and had brief access to server. System...

What's wrong with my new trading computer?

The problems I have found with Dells has more to do with their suppliers than anything else. Dell tries to keep costs low, and make the best deals possible from their suppliers for the components in their units. But because of the volume and the source of their suppliers (take a look at where...

Is it difficult to get accepted for a remote prop firm?

Props still ask for resumes, like they make you think it is some sort of job. I get a laugh each time I see it when these "unique broker" with a "technological advantage" spam CraigsList with their come-ons.

    IB TWS at vpsland

Just want to ask the obvious, no insult intended, but do you have your account locked to your IP address? BTW, I use a VPS for my TWS access and don't have a problem accessing. I use 1and1. Could be your provider.

    hit my goal, now what???

Giving the OP the benefit of the doubt, from personal experience, if you hit a goal for yourself, don't sit there and say "Now What?" Back in the 90's, I wanted to hit a certain goal before the 30th b-day. I didn't see past this goal. Once achieved, I was sitting there with my thumb up my ass...
