    market makers, specialists books

mecro - true...the first time i read one of ney's book was when i found it in a local library, after having looked for it for a while. i had been told that they were absolutely great hidden classics, like richard wyckoff's name is unknown, so is ney's... and having had great expectations, i...

    market makers, specialists books

the ney books tend to be a bit drone at times, and also, some has changed since they were written 30+ years ago. there's a piece in the wall street journal about 4 years back talking about NITE and how they took the no-risk trades at the beginning of day, because they knew their clients (ie...

    Cramer & Kudlow short gold

cutten - from a long time back (ie. when i was a subscriber) i remember cramer stating that he didn't take stops in positions, which is just plain stupid.

    Cramer & Kudlow short gold

can't buy puts / short. cutten - cramer definitely DID go bullish on gold...at 380 in february. he stopped getting excited at a much lower price.

    Cramer & Kudlow short gold

well, it was down big the first time, when it was suddenly re-started. then, it was losing good coin until the market bottomed. a few weeks ago, TSCM sent out a message which stated something close to "cramer's AA portfolio has been up 55% since 10/21/02!". neglecting to mention that, for...

All you need to know: Cramer called for a melt-up

td - cramer doesn't use stops (he posted this, but i can't find the exact quote). he also has a great piece from a few years back. pertinent quotes: "I think you can invest better than I can. I don't think you can trade better than I can. In fact, I think I can out-trade you on most...

    Fading a system....

don't forget, in _street smarts_, they talk about the 'turtle soup' setup, which is definitely fading a certain system (in this case, the 20 period breakout) with some parameters. but they have stops in as well...preventing the bad tail.

    Fading a system....

fading a system... i go contra certain setups, but i have a ton of fundamental and technical exceptions i've built up. having said that...the big thing is to avoid the bad tail. i have a high % of winners, but always, always, ALWAYS close out my negative trades overnight, because i can...

    new briefing.com

i don't understand why they changed the fonts, especially. it's harder to read, etc. no comment back from their CS department on that. yahoo's news is somewhat delayed (15 min?)

    Please educate me about IB

sprob - i don't know RE: tws about the complete listing - i just go to the login part and get a complete list there. on the options spread - you can split the bid/ask, but i'm of the belief that you won't always get displayed...depending on the options MM. some are honest, some aren't...

    Please educate me about IB

also... >I like to swing trade equity options. One well known this is b/c of the cboe, option mms, etc. when the BOX starts, your bid will be displayed. (it's not unique to ib) >when there is NO RISK TO THEM whatsoever. i think there is, actually, but will leave it for someone...

Somebody tried to rip off my IB account and wire money to New Zealand

ok... first, i use norton now. i find it better than the free one (sysomething?) which i used, but unfortunately... when we recovered from the blackout (ny state), i accidentally said 'yes, let him in' to a hacker trying to get in via an open account on my pc. about 15 seconds later, my...

Briefing ups rate from 1 st December- $24.95

i'll probably stick with briefing, but i was disappointed in how they handled this... also, the font on the beta site is terrible.

Does IB trade against our orders?

i trade almost exclusively nasdaq...and buy / sell positions out into price/volume explosions. there have been times that i've gotten immediate and very nice fills from TMBR (that's IB) on these explosions. the rationale i see? they're looking to establish a larger position, and have a...

    Howard Dean is insane

funny, i voted for gore in gore v. bush, and held my nose while doing it. and i would have voted for mccain in gore v. mccain. that's the problem with making blanket statements...

Some commision realities about IB and Tradestation

a side benefit, which i've probably mentioned elsewhere... IB's reliability and speed of execution is incredibly good. i used to be with other brokers - some not geared towards daytraders, some were - and none of them matched IB. because of this, my trading performance increased...
