    bigstring and email.

don't know if anyone saw the guy from bigstring, which said "your emails can't be printed using our software!" only one problem - they CAN be. and i've never used bigstring. how? if you click "print" that can be modified by a program. so that's why nothing can get printed from their...

Newbie seeks your perspective on trading

was asked to give my thoughts. i know nothing directly about covel. i've read some people love his books, some say he's ripped off his ideas from others without credit. some places he trades, some he doesn't? so i can't comment on HIM. please take these as more general comments. first...

demark book and pot limit book.

i read the demark book, but i don't use his stuff. i thought that i could expand my pool of stocks (i'm mainly trading in smaller stocks) but found i preferred staying there, and not trying to learn other areas - larger stocks, futures, etc.

Making $5K with $20K each month

nice trading! and i bet that after that day, (in relation to another thread), you feel successful. made what you wanted, AND have the freedom to do other things. interestingly enough, i went in CHTR short for an intraday trade. i'll be adding more to it in a little later this am unless it...

looking for 70s/80s intraday and daily data.

thanks option_trader. i took a look at prophet, and will contact them regarding the intraday part of it. they definitely have the daily charts of the older stocks - though that part isn't free. i don't care about paying for the data, as long as it's what i need. thanks for the lead...

looking for 70s/80s intraday and daily data.

can anyone give me pointers on where i can find some of this stuff, and cost of it? i'm not specifically looking for backtesting, but a sort of manual backtesting - finding stocks and scenarios that happened 20-30 years ago, and seeing how they played out. the intraday stuff is more...

one month 100% return. can you do it. I did it

i can relate - to a point. i'm not going through a prop place, i have accounts @two brokerages, will eventually open a third. i pull money each month when i'm over X dollars in the account. i trade mainly <$20 stocks, most of those <$10. and most of my trades are short. i do very...

Making $5K with $20K each month

there's one huge problem which may have been mentioned, but i only skimmed most of the comments. if your account is 26k, and you have a few stopouts, you're below 25k. and then the asinine PDT rule comes into play. the amount of "5k off of a 26k account" sounds large until you break it...

The best advice for a Prospective Trader

random thoughts after reading through this whole thread: first, if i was a starting trader and knew nothing, i could get attracted to how cramer does his spiel. seemingly honest, "great" recommendations, having his own tv show, etc. if you want to help him with that particular affliction...

How much should one make to prove himself a good daytrader?

funny - i never have a problem with people who are losing traders posting on boards, unless they're either whining, insulting, or a pain. after all, (almost) all of us were at one point losing traders. and with a lot of ppl, it took something - a book, msg board, a helpful person, or...

How much should one make to prove himself a good daytrader?

sorry - i make far under a million. i'm very happy with my trading. i'm very happy with my results. i'm very happy with not reporting to a boss, having freedom, working from home, taking a day off to visit friends at their day jobs (including other traders!) when i want, etc. to my...

    Ultimate Test Of Stoned Investing:

yeah, but he's got a wife...she may be tired. haven't been to spice market - i've heard it's too loud? - but might go one of these days. went to degustation last friday (east village), great food that was flavorful without being too filling. thank goodness nyc is so diverse... (don't...

    Ultimate Test Of Stoned Investing:

go to uren~a tonight for dinner. it's up on 28th, and great stuff. i took a friend there a couple months ago, we had a great dinner. i'd guess - you need to have the mental "i'm too happy for this trade, so i have to get out" and keep your reflexes sharp.

    Level 2 reading

i've found level 2 to be more honest (in naz stocks) on stocks which aren't popular. that doesn't mean there aren't hidden orders, buf if there's size displayed, it's more often honest. by the same token - there's a bunch of naz stocks where someone has an auto-sell / auto-buy through ARCA...

Is it Important to surround yourself with alot of energy and successful traders?

sorry, but like a lot of other things, "it depends". i work from home, have no interaction with other traders on an intraday basis. i help a couple aspiring people via email periodically, and know several non-equity traders in nyc who i'm friends with. so i could talk with them if i had to...

    Naked Short Selling

well, actually, chris byron tends to be very good on things. one of the top biz writers around. however, i found references (independent of the post's coverage) to the same thing, about him being hired by the fbi. which doesn't excuse his negative conduct.
