Cramer finally states that MRVL is a sell, MRVL up 10%

there's only a couple ways that cramer is better than a dart thrower, and you've hit upon one of them - though not in the way he'd like. NOT a "fade every cramer call" long term. but when he finally succumbs to something he's touted incessantly (or ignored / chastised forever), it's a pretty...

Making $5K with $20K each month

thanks for the dndn info, penny... i had the same unfortunate thing; stopped trading around noon, came back later and took on too much size in a trade. not a bad trade for the chart, but because i took too much size on, i gave back gains from today and yesterday... clear the head...

Is technical analysis getting the recognition it deserves in university studies?

i've considered teaching a course in the stock market at a local university in a few years. i have contacts, enough education, and obviously real world experience. most of my course would NOT be on fundamentals. but it would be a combination of technical analysis and psychology. i've...

Making $5K with $20K each month

how are the options best trading smoothly on DNDN? i'm thinking of buying puts if the stock goes up hard beforehand, but last time i traded, the ITM puts were much less active (and therefore had larger spreads) than the wacky OTM ones.

    fading 20-30 cent spikes

i'd be looking for larger spikes than that, but don't put on too much size; there's periodically the things like AAPL leaks something, it spikes, and 2 minutes later, everyone finds out *why*.

looking for 70s/80s intraday and daily data.

ok, i finally got a response. it didn't answer my question, so i used their live chat... and found out that they definitely have "monthly" data back to 1968, and possibly daily data, but not intraday. oh well, the search continues...

I'd like to move from Middle to front office

if your current job doesn't offer advancement to trading possibilities, find a firm which does. you should be getting headhunter calls already if you're in nyc/chicago/other major cities; this time, take them. find a hunter who's not pushy (hard to do, i know). be willing to start in...

just sold my last house leaving real estate market want to trade

someone mentioned the william o'neil book, how to trade ins tocks. read reminiscences of a stock operator (lefevre), and how i made 2 million (darvas) as well. understand that cnbc is NOT the market. understand that following most gurus will not make you money. it's (relatively) easy...

    Why do you read ET?

a combination of above. to get answers when i have questions on certain resources. to give some information / experiences to others (ie. giving something back) when times are slow during the day, i'll read to prevent overtrading. others, of course, but those are the main ones.

    daily stock screener.

what kind of stock screeners do ppl use? i've used advanced analyzer (which i'll likely be leaving, as the data the past 2 weeks has been spotty at best and they sometimes don't reflect stock splits, 'new' stocks, etc.). i know worden's tc2000. any others people like / recommend? thanks...

looking for 70s/80s intraday and daily data.

any other suggestions besides prophet? i emailed them about it, received the automated "we'll get back to you shortly about it", got nothing from them over the next week, emailed again with the original message and a "hi, haven't heard from you, please let me know" and no response. so, i'm...

CNBC woes - am I alone in my anger?

my disappointment with cnbc is because they don't have as many touts on pumping (fade on the pump) stocks. i used to call my wife in to watch when a stock was pumped on cnbc, the runup, and then my short. changes i've noticed over the last year+ include > a taming down / changing role of...

    Epct

well, i'll have to contact you in a pm later, then, because they're the firm i want to open a new account with *because* of their short list. i've shorted EPCT at some point in the past since i recognized the name when it popped up on my pre-mkt list. btw, unable to short does NOT...

    FU Jim Cramer

no chance the show gets cancelled - pulls in great ratings for cnbc. incredibly small chance he drops it - it fills everything he wants at this point in life (ego). don't listen to flytiger, there's also no chance he's going to jail. after coming back to this, i realized something...

    FU Jim Cramer

on the bigger stocks, intraday (whenever that is in the 2-3 hour), cramer's pump is almost always a great time to reload a short. his pm picks have not been so great to fade - far less consistency than they used to be. i did catch DSL nicely (covered pre-market today) but that's the first...

Making $5K with $20K each month

thanks for the offer, but i've got 2 brokers now and will be opening a third at some point this year. the PDT irritates me because it means i'm not allowed to do what i want with my money. i take money out of my accounts once it's above a certain amount, as i don't want to have the urge to...

Making $5K with $20K each month

good move in NOT trading. well, if you have some of the same mental block as me. i had my backup account start at 5k, and work up from there. but what would happen, once i hit mid teens - i'd see a position go my way, but not want to do my traditional exit because i was afraid of triggering...

Newbie seeks your perspective on trading

spinner - thank you for the correction. i glibly assumed it was a typo...thanks for the followup. i have something else for newer traders to read - curtis faith's excellent blog, wayoftheturtle (dot) com. it's the title of his book (mine's STILL in the mail, damn it!) but his posts on...
