Can I trade KOSPI options, as if it were futures?

Thanks for your reminder. I will definitely trade deep ITM options since the delta is as near as 1 (relative to OTM ones). This should eliminate all other factors ("greek" things). Does time decay matter in daytrading?

IB commissions for low priced stocks

The reason why they can offer fixed rates is they will take your money away when you execute the order. Otherwise the firm will go bankrupt if most customers trade very large shares to take advantage of the fixed rates. Some direct-access firms may offer fixed rates (beware of hidden costs or...

IB commissions for low priced stocks

Have anyone considered IB's unbundled plans (for US shares)? The plan is complex to me. I can't figure in what situations I should join this plan. Here's a few things I notice: - if you are a trader who will queue your orders and wait for execution (ie using non-marketable limit orders to...

Is IB making mistakes in its commission example table

Please see attachment. 1) Bundled plans for "GLOBEX GBP USD" only costs 1.75 while other currency futures cost 3.00. Is this a mistake? Can anyone confirm it? 2) Under unbundled plans, the exchange costs (and commissions) for every currency futures contract should be the same. How...

Can I trade KOSPI options, as if it were futures?

Wow! Amazing. It is 283,772!!!!! The next runner is just 6,179. Yes, you are right. We can't just predict the direction as it's what we need to do with futures. The spread is usually large which make daytrading options not worthwhile. However KOSPI may be a special...

    DAX Help Questions

Normally how fast and how large can DAX move? I think we should look for the halt day (so we know where the limit is), or look for the maximum volatility (but did not trigger halt). Then we know when we should close the trade before the halt comes. I have no idea on how to deal with such...

    DAX Help Questions

Hey, Jachyra What do you mean by "exchange infrastructure alone makes DAX (or any Eurex product) less scary"? How do they make them less scary? How fast and how large can DAX move? Regarding HSI, there are 2 sessions, 1 in the morning; 1 in the afternoon, which is similar to NIKKEI...

    DAX Help Questions

What is "Volatility Interrupt"? I think it is something to do with max ups/downs within a day, but the exact amount is unknown. Do I get it right? How long does it halt? And how does the market determine the open? When do we need to switch to next contract?

    DAX Help Questions

It depends on how serious you are. When you practice sim trade, you need put yourself into the scenario. Treat it as if you are trading with real money. I know it may be hard to do, but you will learn much more if you can do so. You will go much smoothly when you trade real. After all...

    DAX Help Questions

No really true. There are many things we have to consider: - volatility -- how much you can capture -- the percentage of success - trade volume (liquidity) - margin (opportunity costs of money) Even if it is a very volatile, it may not be worth trading if it is thin and/or the margin...

    DAX Help Questions

How scary DAX is? How fast and how large can it move? Is it as scary as HSI? HSI is worth HKD50 (~USD6.5) per 1 point. It may move by 1XX-2XX points (once 3XX) in a matter of less than 1 minute. The cost is ~USD1282 for 200 points. So far, I couldn't find any instrument which can...

Can I trade KOSPI options, as if it were futures?

KOSPI option is going to be better than futures since: 1) the risk is limited for option buyers 2) the margin is much lower than futures If I can apply my own futures strategies to options, it is going to be fantastic. :) Is KOSPI the world largest option market? Apart from KOSPI...

    Best commodities with best volatility

In your own opinion: 1) what commodity market give good volatility and good liquidlity, but smooth one-way trendiness at the same time (ie not swinging up and down most of the time)? 2) what commodity market do you trade? And why do you trade them? Just list the conditions/situations or...

Can I trade KOSPI options, as if it were futures?

I see KOSPI is so liquid! I have no idea how to trade options, but would it be possible to treat it like it were futures and daytrade? I just know how to trade futures. I get no idea about options and all its greeks. :p Should I give their options a try, or should I stick with its futures?

    I LOVE the HSI futs!

To give people another idea about the liquidity of HSI, the average contract per price is about 5.71 contracts (It is calculated from a few days of data only, not too reliable). The median is going to be lower since the average is pulling up by a few very large contracts (a few 30+ contracts...

    I LOVE the HSI futs!

kiwi_trader, I feel HSI is more exciting than SGXNK and KOSPI. You have to be more careful when trading HSI as it may move more than a hundred points in less than 1 minute. If you can't predict its move, the suddenness may kill you off. Beware of the lunch-time gap. If you wish to avoid it...

    I LOVE the HSI futs!

Yes, I am meant to say filling 5-10 contracts instantly and at the same price. Quite often, there is only 1-4 contract at one price. Sometimes it may go to 5-9. A few may have more than 10. You may see 30-100 orders sitting at a few significant prices. Are you filling your orders bit by bit...

    Globex Stops

It has over a hundred contracts at one price most of the time. So you should be fine if you are well under 100 contracts.

    I LOVE the HSI futs!

They are much more liquid than HSI. You should not find any difficulty to fill in about 30 contracts at one price. However you will find it problematic to fill 5-10 contracts at once in HSI. You will experience a few slippage then.
