CFTC Busts $44 Million Ponzi Crypto Investment Scheme

If you believe it is a 100% currency only then that may be true, however currencies don't fluctuate 5-10% per day -- only currencies in freefall behave like that (Sri Lanka, Turkey, etc.). I personally believe BTC is part currency but also part commodity which explains the massive fluctuation of...

    Dumb Questions From a Noob

It seems the best is to learn just enough to trade as opposed to learning everything about trading. When I used to work I was a systems analyst but mostly I was a UNIX sysadmin, Oracle DBA & Perl programmer but I didn't learn everything about those 3 areas just enough to do what I needed.

Favorite stocks or etfs for a Bounce?

I don't think TARK is more ridiculous than FNGU (3X FANG+ Index). I guess you could say a leveraged instrument shouldn't be based on an actively managed ETF but I get the feeling people have accepted that ARKK is like an asset class to itself -- essentially high revenue growth disruptors. A lot...

CFTC Busts $44 Million Ponzi Crypto Investment Scheme

The real problem is can BTC survive a true deleveraging of the balance sheet? The Fed has had its printer on since the collapse of Lehman Brothers so close to 14 years. I doubt the current Fed will actually do a true deleveraging, but even a 50% reduction in their balance sheet would collapse...

Are we headed for 2008 level volatility?

Anything above 3.25% on the 10-year means a further market crash possibly Nasdaq down 50% so JPow and friends are just hoping inflation fades away before they have to make any hard choices. This economy is addicted to ZIRP and deflation. Inflation would expose the zombie companies to reality and...

China Eastern air disaster this March is human action not mechanical problem - Boeing stock jumps!

Boeing is POS company with a worthless BoD. They should all be fired. Regulatory capture made them lazy AF. Too bad Buffet didn't buy like 20-30% back in March 2020. He could have fixed the crappy management.

Can't believe the market lost +4% today!

A 3.15% comeback for NQ futures. A 59% retrace of the whole 606 point range. Pretty amazing. This market has become so volatile and yet the VIX doesn't do anything.

Australia’s property boom making the nation poorer

Interesting campaign pictures. Even the llama seems bored. Are there a lot of Sikhs in Australia?

Are we headed for 2008 level volatility?

Why is the VIX only at 30? Looks like it is just an orderly sell off. Still no panicking which means it is yet to come. One thing I noticed from the talking heads is they still claim inflation is on the verge of coming down any second now. Unless these deflationistas give up their dream of...

Can't believe the market lost +4% today!

Amazing another 4% swing on the NQ. I don't understand who are these traders buying it in the overnight to prop it up? I guess European bourses were higher so maybe that's the reason. I still haven't seen a rally of more than 3 days on the NQ in a month or more. Its starting to look like early...

Australia’s property boom making the nation poorer

Are all these stressed mortgages because adjustable rates? Or is the employment deteriorating? Its a good article describing the political problem well but there are no easy solutions. The obvious solution is more housing but governments are not interested for whatever reason (I assume since...

Australia’s property boom making the nation poorer

I believe Singapore has a similar scenario as you painted due to the lack of physical space. I remember visiting my old college friend who works in Singapore as a Chemist in the government. He told me you have to apply for a license to get a second home, second automobile, etc. That may be the...

Do you chart-only readers thing stonks would have tanked today if retail had not dissapointed?

Since the last mini rally that ended around the second week of April, there hasn't been a sustained rally for more 2-3 days at most. This one lasted about 3-3.5 days if you count the intraday reversal last Friday. I'm not a fundamental analyst but there doesn't seem to be a reason to buy the...

Australia’s property boom making the nation poorer

If housing keeps rising then it makes sense to use your superannuation as a deposit. I get the impression Australia, NZ, Canada, US, etc. don't want to build enough housing for the populace so I don't know that you will do worse investing in housing vs. the share markets. Plus you don't have to...

Can't believe the market lost +4% today!

The retail version of FAANG is WATCH aka Walmart Amazon Target Costco Home Depot. Even a good report from Home Depot didn't help it. It went from $310 to $280 in 2 days. My guess is CostCo & Lowes won't do anything to dispel this trend. Up until today the food & tobacco stocks did pretty well...

Can't believe the market lost +4% today!

It was really a culmination of WMT AMZN & TGT but it seems Target was the last straw for that collapse today. The market was up yesterday even with the bad print from WMT.

Can't believe the market lost +4% today!

I haven't seen one earnings report take down a whole index in a while. That TGT earnings was pretty bad. Better hope CostCo earnings aren't as bad otherwise more pain will be coming. The NQ fell almost 5.5% from that point on (0500 CST).

Do you chart-only readers thing stonks would have tanked today if retail had not dissapointed?

I agree. I was watching the futures market when the Target earnings hit and it totally collapsed. Up until that point it looked like the futures were going to recover in fact YM turned positive right before the Target report and then it completely tanked. YM dropped 1300 points from 0500 CST to...

How Private Equity is Making Your Life More Expensive

Private equity has always been scam since the days it was referred to as Leveraged Buy Out and in Icahn's case he was referred to as a Greenmailer. Greenmail was the bribe money management gave to Icahn to leave them alone so he could scam some other companies. It's funny how bubble vision loves...

Australia’s property boom making the nation poorer

Albanese seems a lot better than Morrison. At least he seems like he would be more likely to help middle class & poor. Albanese seems a lot like Biden with his lack of economic experience and Morrison seems a lot like George W Bush with his out of touch Christian background. Albanese has a...
